66 years old. Fantastic player!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/ob ... story.html

Lyle provided a brilliant and lush backdrop for Metheny's wandering's. A "tapestry", really.
He was the "cloth" and Metheny, the "thread."

Great clip if you ignore Pat's shorts. And a really good example of Lyle's brilliance in the middle.

A beautiful piece of work for which the total group was in the pocket. Thanks, for posting, Mike.

The curtain may have come down for you, Lyle; but, the attentive crowd is still out there to listen to your contributions of the past.

I know this is going to sound stupid ... but when I was a high-school- guitar player, I very much knew who Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays were, and (even as a heavy rock player) had a few PMG albums -- my musical tastes were fairly diverse. In my Biology class, we often had these movies about different biology topics. They took up the whole period (mercifully) and were super well done with all of the music done by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. I don't think they realized how they were helping young poeple (er, guitar players) like myself learn science.

RIP, sir... It is partly because of you I got an 'A' in high-school Biology ... no lie.
