Thanks, for the heads up, Mike.

My thinking is that there is still a stigma about the Leo/CBS ownership change and fiasco. I don’t expect Fender will be worse for this internal
change. Maybe, I’m overly optimistic; but, as things change with buyer habits and, as present and future music requirements change, it would be hard to find a major musical instrument company with a history like Fender as old as they are or older that hasn’t moved on with new ownership and, perhaps, the changing of the guard several times throughout their existence. Even those that lead make mistakes or they aren’t leaders. Ask Elon Musk or . . . Some have come and gone leaving survivors not only by the ownership but by tradition, loyal fans and customers. Can followers be swayed into buying digital mistakes or poor peghead design or tone that someone else has chosen or simply branding, or . . . ? Of course! Happens all the time, and that won’t change.

I think Fender will be just fine. We can look at the successful smaller players in the industry and were Fender to take that position FMIC still would be a giant in their field.

Notably, a bulk of the success comes down to marketing and, looking at my vintage drums, it brings to mind that deals were struck and the original English company was sold and bought back to and from Asia. Marketing was said to be the up front purpose, and yet both Yamaha and Premier benefitted from each other in the transaction. Yamaha with Premier’s experience since 1922 and with it’s established European market (Canada’s auto industry, for example, was originally based on America’s need to access markets that Canada had through the Commonwealth), and Premier adopted Yamaha’s efficiency and their methods of constructing percussion instruments. For me, it restricted my purchasing to add to my kit being that model changes and availability were compromised. A guitar or amp would not have fallen into that crevasse, however. Others reaped the improvements.

Regardless. both companies are still around and, two years from now, Premier, thought to have been cursed with acquisition and change, will be celebrating it’s 100th anniversary! Has the foundation upon which it was built changed? Yup! Some for worse and some for better. Looks like the better has made it’s mark even amongst the difficult and more widespread competition. If anything needs to follow this road to success, it’s the shoddy automobile industry. IMHO

I think Fender will celebrate it’s 100th Anniversary too. I won’t be around to see it; however, I’m confident that those fine folks at Fender are working on making it happen.
Okay, Fender. Where’s my 100th Anniversary prototype.

"The agreement will make Servco the new majority stake owner in Fender; previously, the brand had been operating under joint ownership by Servco and TPG Growth."

Not really a very interesting event, the changing names of corporate stockholders.

But a couple of things stuck out, one being (WRT the CBS era) “Fenders popularity waned and the demand for pre CBS guitars grew”.
That sounds like the I suppose typical corporate disconnect where poor sales is interpreted as waning “popularity”, as if the corporate handling of the brand was not at fault, it was just culture.

The other thing I didn’t know is that Leo sold Fender for $13 million in ‘65, then CBS only got $12.5 mil for the company in ‘85. Wow.

Yeah. Culture is a funny thing sometimes. If Dale Earnhardt has driven a Yugo daily imagine how many hopped up ones would have hit the streets.
