I'd bet you are still very good. It's not a matter of playing faster, but at least being able to play a song, even if it's slow. Even so, we are our own worst critic.

I would kill for a talk with BB King!!! And while we are on the subject, just go ahead and fill the room with Eric, John, Buddy, Jimmy, and Stevie and you and kill me afterwards.... There would be no reason to live. Wow could life get better than that. Of course you would have to find a way to re-animate / channel Stevie....

Seems like a bunch of young punks :P

I'm 62. I'm back into guitars after about 20 years of not really touching my old acoustic.

So I'm learning all over again - lots of time - I'm a retired networking engineer.

Gil 8)

PS My granddaughters ( 16 and 18 ) think it's really cool that I'm learning to play

Hey watch it old-timer... but thanks for the compliment (young punks). You can probably play better than you think. It's like riding that old bike, you just never forget how.

16 playing 5 or so
i always hear that the younger you are when you start or learn anything, the better you are at it. id say 11 is a great age to pick up an instrument. i wish my parents would have made me take piano lessons when i was younger. thats one instrument that i watch poeple play and immediately have an annurism. to have so much coordination in your fingers...wow.
i been playin since i was 7

Dude, don't sweat the fast thing. David Gilmour is slow and methodical, no shredding involved, and he's one of the finest guitar players I've ever heard.

Being good isn't about speed...it's about melody, technique, timing and soul. Did I mention soul?

If you can make the audience feel what you feel when you play, you're doin a great job!

Got it, SOUL. And yes I do love David (Pink and post-Pink)!
