New Mod-Shop delivered with a dead neck pickup. No Fender authorized guy in my area means I have to just let a local, skilled, luthier take a look.

NC

Edit: The local luthier removed the strings and pick guard and thought some of the wires touching one another may be the problem. He put it back together and the guitar played fine . . . as long as I played the hum bucker or middle pickup and did not use the bridge. I put this to rest until the week of January 6th when people were back from work and I am still frucked thanks to Fender as there is nobody in the area authorized.

Wow, you're better off buying a Squier, if that's the case. At least then you'd be spending like a third of the price, and they usually work when you get one.

Agree with both of you and cannot get anything done until Monday. I've toned the original post down as bitching won't solve anything. But I'll NEVER buy another Mod Shop Guitar again, that's for sure.

Such issues are not confined to the Mod Shop. Every division it seems is suffering from QC/QA problems, even the Custom Shop.

With no "Fender Authorized" repair technician within 300 miles I had a local luthier pop the cover off and see if anything jumped out at him. He wiggled some wires around, reinstalled the cover and re-strung the guitar. It worked for five minutes. All other repair places were closed until the 6th of January.

I now have to take the guitar to another independent Luthier two hours from here and pay him his hourly rate to get this taken care of.

$@!& YOU FENDER. You have lost a customer for life. I don't want to hear about how, "it happens." This is a mod-shop that cost nearly $2,000 that should have been tested before it left the factory. Google Strat Talk and Mod shop experience. I am not alone.

If you wanted spotty QC, you may as well have been playing a Gibson. Some fine, some lousy, with a hefty sticker price on it.

Why don't you just send it back and get a refund?

Doesn't that void the warranty?

COMPLETELY understand the frustration here and don't want to minimize the concern - but this is def something you'd want to work through our Consumer Relations dept vs over here on our friendly enthusiast forums. Visit support.fender.com and either give a call or file a ticket, and they'll get you taken care of.
