It's a truly amazing guitar as anyone who's seen him play it live will attest to. In fact Joe claims it to be his favorite do all guitar. It's basically a modded '51 Nocaster with a Gibson humbucker at the neck. And oh boy can he make his original '51 howl. The moment I heard the news about it getting the Custom Shop treatment I told myself that that's my next #1 guitar. I'm so into the idea about owning it I've put all other prospective guitar purchases on halt. In one fell swoop goodbye Collings City Limits Deluxe; goodbye Martin D45.

Problem is: just 100 are being produced and all are to be sold through his website.

What can I expect to pay for something like this?

3, 5....10,000?

If I were guessing I'd say 10-15K range but it could be a little higher.
I assume your signed up on his site and they will likely start taking 10% down payments when they,
Have an approved build
Know the price
Know when they will be ready for delivery, since they will be MB guitars

My guess would be a year away...probably longer maybe the 1st one by spring.

As far as I'm concerned, it's just another product he can try to stick his name on. Which is what he loves to do.

Yes, he's talented, but I can't say he strikes me as a unique player, like Jerry Garcia, or Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, George Harrison, George Barnes, or someone else who has a unique style.

I wish him well, but I don't think he will be remembered as a truly great player.

Just my opinion,
vinyl

Not judging Joe, but there are a lot of variables in defining a great player. One could consider where that acknowledgment comes from, the credibility and the motivation of the presenter.

Having worthy entries in a list to embellish obvious questionable participants doesn’t cut it. IMHO. If Rolling Stone magazine or the RRHOF gets involved Joe Bonamassa has a chance.
FSB

I’m still perplexed as to how Sean Connery missed a James Bond Oscar or special mention :?:
