The 49th anniversary of the passing of The Master, James Marshall Hendrix is approaching. On September 18, 1970, he slipped away from us all. RIP: JMH, and thanks for the "Electric Lady".

What's your favorite album by him? I have to say mine would have to be "Electric Ladyland." I've always liked the vibe and sound of that recording.

Yeah, pretty much. His last, The Cry Of Love was decent as well. So was Band Of Gypsys, and I guess all the others. A cop out answer, I know.

Thank you for the reminder, I forgot about that purposely I think. Devastating loss of talent.

JMH definitely did what set out to do. "Wake up a lot sleeping people out there", as he put it.

I thought Jimi was fired from Little Richard's band, as well.

Do you remember back in the 90's (also, further back than that) when they had that Columbia House thing where you could get 10 CD's for a penny (before that cassettes, and other formats,) and they'd also send you a particular album related to the genre of the albums you buy, and you could decide to keep it or send it back? I was signed up for that for years, and I got a boat load of CD's from that (all of The Doors' back catalog, and Led Zeppelin, to name a few,) and a couple of the CD's they sent me was Jimi Hendrix "Blues" and "Woodstock." I thought those were pretty good albums, as well.

It's funny, he's been dead all of these years, yet at least up until recently, he keeps putting out a lot of new albums. I imagine a lot of that is probably repackaged from stuff that was out in the 70's, that were originally on bootlegs, though. He did spend a lot of time in studios, but I'm sure that well would have dried out soon, considering the time he was around. He wasn't exactly like Prince, who basically lived in his own studio, and I think has recorded over 500 songs, from what I understand, but also lived a lot longer, and had the time to do that.

Axis: Bold as love is probably my all time favourite, Are You Experienced seems more like a compilation of single a & b sides with a few exceptions. Electric Ladyland has an excellent single album in there. The unreleased stuff that came out after his death (Cry of Love, Rainbow Bridge, War Heroes, Loose Ends.......) has some excellent tracks and we can only wonder what music he would have been producing if........
Miss you Jimi.

I remember that as a kid, since they used to have ads in comics books and magazines from back in the 70's. They had the 8-tracks, too.

Yeah, especially in your van with the shag carpet interior, and all of that. You know there had to be one in this van. :P Image

I'm lucky that I got to see him play before he passed.

It's one of the reasons my number #1 is a white Strat.
