Hi! I have a 2008 Fender American Standard Strat and I have been made an offer to trade it for a 1978 Twin Reverb. Apparently it has been recently serviced as well as modified to remove the master volume knob. Can someone with more experience please tell me if I am getting hosed? It's a local guy on CL. I am including a link but not sure that ok on this forum. Please let me know ASAP! Thanks! https://fortmyers.craigslist.org/lee/ms ... 51309.html

Welcome to the Forum nayasamson1297. Good luck with your consideration.

The non-Master Twin Reverbs do tend to be more sought after so in a way it's not surprising someone might decide to do that modification.
Value-wise I'd say they're roughly in the same ballpark ... give or take.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Do you own a bass boat?

I ask because unless your are a touring musician with roadies galore to wrestle your gear and play a lot of outdoor coliseum gigs, the best use for a Twin Reverb in this era of smaller venues and health-conscious audiences is as an anchor for small to medium watercraft.

I'd keep the American Standard and get another amp.

Arjay is right!
