Gang: our first-ever installment of Fender University is officially in session as we speak in lovely Southern California. Our group of attendees is getting ready to have a weekend they'll no doubt vividly recall for the rest of their lives!

I'm not onsite myself but we do have a couple of attendees who are forum regulars, and they've agreed to stop by and post the occasional tidbit from their experience here and there. That said, the Fender U schedule is jam-packed and it's not yet clear how much time our Fender staff nor our attendees are realistically going to have during the event to be making posts here and/or on the Fender.com Blog. I guess we're going to find out together! :-)

That sounds great. I look forward to hearing what the attendees say about it! So from a Fender point of view, will this be the first of many? Or is that a bit premature?

That's exactly what I told my wife when I wanted to sign up. She is too smart and saw right through it. She also said there were cheaper forms of GAS

Yeah, you guys are slick. Thats what happens when you marry a smart woman! I am afraid that I will be saving my pennies with ya! It would be very cool to attend! A whole weekend devoted to playing, jamming, and partying....uhm I mean LEARNING! ;)

And yes, there is a difference between playing and jamming! :D

Brad,
Can we get some details on the instruments provided? Are they off-the-shelf American Standards or are they special and different in some way for this function? My guess is they are special... ?

PS Oh, yeah. And tell Yngwie he still owes Joe $50 for "that Vegas thing". Don't worry ... he'll remember.

How many people are allowed in that class, at a time? How often are those classes? Are they only in the summer? (not that I'm going....I don't play well enough)

Oh, I wanted to go so badly, but three problems. 1: It's in California. Alaska to Cally, is hard money. 2: Admission is expensive. 3: I am not 21 yet.

any cheaper rates for winter season. californian winter's like a british heatwave.
Nearly talked the missus into it by showing her the hotel online. Its all about finding somewhere to ditch the kids whilst were there. I could even kill 2 birds with 1 stone and get married whilst im there. Now thats a good way to save money :D
