I just found this out. Sad news to hear. He was playing with Canned Heat again, but I think him and the drummer, Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra were the only two original members left. I know a few of them had died as well. Great band. RIP, Larry. :(

Loved Canned Heat, the songs and the sound, from the start, and Larry Taylor was a big part of that successful well rounded group. Quite a resume and long journey.

Sad to hear, but I know there’s a place for Larry in Rock and Roll heaven.

I was listening to their whole discography not that long ago, at least what I could find, and various live performances. He left the band after 1970, but came back in the mid to late 80's. He's also played with a bunch of other artists besides them, like John Mayall (who didn't play with that guy?) and Tom Waits, to name a few. Now there's only two people still alive from the Woodstock lineup, Harvey "The Snake" Mandel, and Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra, which I'm not sure would be considered their "classic lineup" or not. There were a lot of people in that band over the years. I think Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra has been in the band from the beginning.

I'm sincerely saddened by Larry T.'s passing. One of the finest players around, and just a really nice guy. RIP Larry.
Thanks for posting this about Larry. I was always liking that I saw Canned Heat several times, and many of those were the well known members.

Did you ever get to meet him back in the day?

Thank you for posting Paul.
Larry (the mole) Taylor is my favorite bass guitarist from the late 60's. He and Bob (the bear) Hite are the two members that I met at Aaron Russo's Kinetic Playground. The coolest Bros ever and man could they boogie. A huge loss for the blues and rock and roll. They just don't make musicians that creative anymore.
R.I.P. Larry

Canned Heat really was something special. They played just good music to Boogie Too!

My observation of Canned Heat was that they were the second most boring act to take to the stage at the Monterey Pop Festival (the first being Ravi Shankar).

Subsequent CH performances I witnessed did not change my view. Wash down a few Qualudes with some Ripple and they'd put an audience to sleep in ten minutes flat.

Well, not everyone is going to like the same thing, so there is that.
