Haha! It's all kind of in keeping with the aviation-related theme of this particular band. The band is named "Two Seven Kilo" -- the call sign corresponding to my late father's airplane. All a little silly, probably, but ... better than the typical "guitarist standing in front of brick wall with arms folded" look, I'm thinking.

You have that right, SBLS. It’s unlike any other.

Total posts 1,201,159 | Total topics 99,131 | Total members 565,628 and climbing. That doesn’t count the many who simply browse this friendly welcoming and opinionated  neighbourhood of fine music loving folk young and old. :D
I’m giving it five toques thanks to you, Brad.

A Happy 2020 for Fender, the Forum(s), and to you and yours for many years to come.

There's been some criticizing lately.

Another Fender marketing department failure.
Brad does a great job with the resources available to him, but Fender obviously doesn't see the value in making the forum a full-time job for someone... and legally can't assign an employee to spend their leisure hours working on a forum.

I suspect the resources available to Brad are practically none. I also suspect that Brad has a family he would like to spend time with.
I used to work with one of the largest electricity providers in the southeast. I had both virtual and physical access to the electrical grid. Given the headaches with background checks, Human Resources, lawyers, homeland security, etc., I'm glad to not have that anymore. Eventually, I gave up my home access because of the hassle. I won't go into what that involved as far as virtual access from home involved. It was easier to drive to work and access it from a "secure" company network. All of my access was deleted less than 24 hours after I retired. (perhaps a suggestion to our country for people that have access to sensitive classified info that resign or get "fired" by the president).
I suspect Brad doesn't have to deal with homeland security, but I also suspect there's a whole army of lawyers he does.

I understand the delay in new users... but spammers still get through, and when they do, it can take another week (usually less) before they are dealt with... one problem though, is when they are deleted, their entire threads are not deleted so we often end up with threads with no OP, but one or two responses.

The delay sucks, and is probably a little bit longer right now because of NAMM, but given the choice between spammers, and the pop-up ads for Fender play we used to suffer, (no thanks to the Fender marketing goobs) I'll take the delay and the single banner ad for Fender Play.

You revisit the forum for some interesting new posts and, day after day, there is nothing and then we are overwhelmed with a whole raft of new stuff.

Dear Fender either do the forum or don't bother. This current arrangement doesn't do you justice.

I look most days for new posts, but if there are none, I move on. Yeah, I might post something under "The Song Game" or "What Are You Doing" etc. if I'm bored.

There are people who provide some good info for the users here.
I'll leave it at that. Anything more and I might offend someone. I don't want to do that. We need all the posters we can get.

Lastly, I'm glad I started this thread. Brad may make more sacrifices than most of us know, and I for one, appreciate it.

Cheers,
vinyl
