I wanted a Strat.

As far as Strats go, Gibson doesn't quite cut it.

That said, the guitar prior to that was a Gibson-type, the next guitar will be another Gibson-type.

When i picked up my first Strat... it just felt right.
the neck. the sound. the look.

Quite honestly the feel of a LP just isn't right. and i dont care for the looks of em at all.

I own 6 Gibson Guitars, and 8 true Fenders... And to me -comparing them is like - comparing apples to oranges... Two different sounds & feels.
But, if I had to pick just one guitar to play out of my collection and had to throw the others out...
I would pick my Eric Johnson Sunburst Strat! Hands down, pound for pound an awesome guitar!
Also, I consider the "match up" of guitar- to-amp is most important!
Example: My favorite match ups in my collection: Strat & Super Reverb... Explorer & Marshall 50w Half stack... & my Les paul with my 66' Bassman Head & 2-12 Fender cab... SRV Strat & Musicman HD115 (poorman's Vibroverb)... Anything with my Fender Pro Reverb...

I don't think that, to this day any guitar manufacturer "gets it" the way Leo Fender did, when it comes to matching his guitars to his Amps!

I actually choose a Epiphone as my first guitar. Then I got a Squier and started neglecting the Epi Les Paul. I quickly sold the Epi and got a MIM strat. For me there is something about the arctic white strats and the 3 tone bursts that are just breathtaking. Not to mention i'm not a big fan of rosewood fingerboards. Maple FTW!!!!

Easy - history, sound, versatility, feel. How can millions of Fender players be wrong???

My first guit. was a Ibanez JS 100. My second was a...na...Fender Lone Star Strat MIA ('96,Olympic White, Rosewood Fingerboard, SSH) buyed in March 97. Short: a Fender Strat is timeless, simple and beautiful.
Some guitars later (come and go) I buyed in March '08 a Classic Player 60 in sonic blue.
I have swear to both to keep them till I die

Cheers :D

I first picked up a Strat because of Ritchie Blackmore.

I stayed with Strats (for the most part) because they are the most comfortable playing guitar out there. I later discovered, as an added bonus, that it's so darned easy to modify.

Every guitar I own is a "custom" Fender :D
