When I searched around to buy my first electric guitar, I've tried many brands like Gibson, Ibanez, PRS, MusicMan, Zemaitis, and of course, Fender...

From more than 20 brands I've tried, Fender has a great sound (honestly some model of MusicMan still better for me), but fender has a reasonable price, not crazy price....

My favorite guitarists also use Fender like Brian May, Richie Sambora, Richie Blackmore, Jimi Hendrix, and Yngwie Malmsteen

The strat and tele to a lesser degree are control tools. you can plug it in set your gain to max and control it all from the volume and tone knobs. Something thats not easy to do with gibsons.
Also,
i dont like les paul neck pickup sounds, their hard to record with gain and maintain clarity.
Look at a SG funny and it goes out of tune.
Drop either and watch the headstocks come off.
Those negative points made, they are very good guitars, with a inimitable sound.
Has anyone seen the new SG's sunburst, white pickguard and 3 lipsticks.http://www.coda-music.com/popup_image.php?pID=3798
Further evidence that fender is going through a good time?

I would not say I picked Fender because I look at it as I pick guitars that I like whether Fender, Gibson. Epiphone, ESP, PRS what ever it may be. Who makes it is not as important as how it plays and sounds.

Cause it looked pretty. :D :D :D

I don't know, kinda becasue Mayer plays 'em mostly, so did Stevie Ray and Hendrix, and they looked cool, got the tone I wanted, and they cost WAAAAAAAAAY less than Gibsons do, for the most part. 8)

I didn't pick the Fender. The Fender picked me. It was almost by chance that out eyes met through that foggy window, and it grabbed at me with a lust so large. It turned out to be crap. I loved it, replaced EVERYTHING on it, and sold it. It made me a nice grand. Bought a nice Strat after that.

Its funny that 8 years ago when I picked up the guitar again after many years away from it, the last thing I thought I wanted was a Strat or Tele. I ended up buying an Epi SG. After awhile I wanted something different and added a Strat. Then sometime later I picked up a Tele and couldn't understand why I had been avoiding those guitars. I think at the time I was sold on humbuckers, and after awhile I learned that I wanted to be more diverse in my tones.

Truthfully, just because my Hagstrom didn't come in and I needed something reliable. The Schecter Damien I compared it to was terrible, so spent the extra got the tele.

well growing up my older brother was really into nirvana. when i got into music i really liked the smashing pumpkins, weezer and green day. so if kurt, billy, rivers and billie joe all played them, i thought that would be a good choise for me.

I chose Fender (and Fender-made) guitars because of their feel, their sound, their looks and their overall vibe.

The fact that Jimmie Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Derek O'Brian, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins and Waylon Jennings all played Fenders had something to do with it, but I really never set out to have someone else's guitar or rig.

My first three guitars were G&Ls--an F-100 (still own it), a Nighthawk (wish I still owned it!), and an SC-2 (wouldn't mind having it, but it was no Nighthawk)...Of course, everyone knows that George Fullerton and Leo Fender (G&L) were the force behind those guitars;

I now own the 1980 G&L F-100, a 1962RI Fender Stratocaster, a 1995 Fender Telecaster.

Good Vibes To Y'all... 8)

What I'm about to say didn't have anything to do with my FIRST Fender, but made a difference in my choice of the other Fender guitars, basses, and amps I've owned:

Fender Frontline magazine! I used to pick them up once or twice a year at my local guitar store and that magazine would be in my...um..."library" at home until a new one came out.

I'm serious. Staring at those magazines, memorizing (without really trying) specs, colors, and options for various Fender products is very powerful marketing.

Fender, please bring back Frontline magazine. Frontline-In-Home is a feeble attempt that hits my recycle bin within minutes of reading. In comparison, I still have every Fender Frontline ever published.

I sold commercial printing for many years and I know how expensive a thick, glossy magazine is to print. The short-term cost reduction from killing the mag is undertstandable, but in the long run, you may be losing fanatic brand loyalists by not letting them brainwash themselves into thinking that only a Fender will do. The website is cool, but it's not the same.

I've purchased four Fender basses, three Fender guitars, and three Fender amps. I haven't bought any Fender gear since Frontline went away. That's not because I'm mad about it; it's just that I no longer sit and stare at Frontline and dream of my next purchase.

I guess I should say thanks. You're saving me money.

Respectfully submitted. Really. :)

.....because 3 of my biggest idols play Fender. Gibson just can't do bass guitars justice so leave it to Fender. Also when i played my Jazz for the first time, it was so smooth in tone and playability. I fell in love.

Couldnt afford a Mosrite...the original ventures model. Fender is still original so I went Fender. Its one of those wierd things. I only believe in the original Mosrites or Fenders. Kinda like tools, I only use Snap On. I guess Im narrow minded hehheh!!

The history. Being mainly an acoustic player for years, I was drafted into a band who needed a lead guitarist. I played the other guitarist's Strat, and while I loved the action, it just didn't have the sound or feel I was wanting. So, I picked up a Tele. It was love at first lick I guess you could say. It just has the tone and smoothness I am looking for.
