Here's why...
1. Allows me to set up an account with a username, not an email address.
2. Gives me 4 options for privacy.
a. Public
b. Private
c. Private with password
d. Private, unless you have the URL.

I have an old Win7 laptop, so links to an Imgur gallery don't work with Win7 and IE11.
I don't use Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
Photobucket? Seriously, you can deal with the huge watermark? Or the fact it starts over 100 threads in Internet Explorer?

Google drive or Google photo? If you can figure out how to post a photo in either of those, more power to you.

Flickr? You have to edit the end of the post so it doesn't include who posted the photo.

I've been using Imgur for a few years now, with no issues. Image

Imgbb - because it's easy and fun.

When Photobucket literally blew up in our faces I did a search for free pic hosting sites that allow remote linking.
Flickr was one of the returned results.
I tried it and it met my requirements well.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

For the moment I use Canon’s Irista which is very limited as to posting/links and editing. Prior to that my cable tv/internet provider included a photo account along with 10 website accounts . They, unfortunately, dropped the service. It was the least invasive in that they already had your data, and it was an easy operation at the time. No lengthy EULAS or double talk. No extra cost (the overall high price made up for that). To their credit, they did give us months of heads up notice to remove our material from the sites.

Speaking of which, when I can and when feasible, I’ll use the service of companies that I already have accounts with to minimize my information and to shorten untested agreements spread across the Net.

These days, personal information and access to the same is like an open book, so the best one can do is go with a service that meets the needs, and is less invasive than another.

I haven’t found a perfect solution, not even a really good one, only a better one than another. Even that is questionable. IMHO. Okay. I’ll admit I click on “Accept” like others without so much as batting an eye, but that doesn’t mean I take it for granted. The originators and cherry pickers don’t. I do think many photo storage programs are at risk of “here today, gone tomorrow” or getting bundled with the big players. It’s like playing hopscotch. My guess is the bigger they are, the more competitive, and the more likely to be eaten up or disposed of so my chosen photos for storage online are disposable, backed up, or both.

I’m not concerned about the privacy anymore since admitted and recently confirmed listening in on conversations has been reported for analytics (or so they say), and my next TV, whatever it may be, will likely have a microphone and maybe a camera (coming to a home near you). Live television and gaming participation at your and their leisure. At the moment I have free streaming. Maybe, I’m missing something; but, I see nowhere to opt out of Alexa should I agree? Similar bundles are rampant. The next thing you know we’ll have face recognition on our fridge to order groceries, and a trailing cop’s face on our dash display to pull us over. We’ll be on theirs of course (not in my time, but maybe in yours). Perhaps, we’ll be changing, basic editing, downloading and uploading photos by speech on our TV. Great! Privacy on photo storage sites? Phtt!

Maybe, it’s time for my own server with it’s own editing facility. I could call it The Cloud. (prolly copywritten)
It would be nice, however, if we could gather our related forum photos, and put them together on one site we can rely on with less concern and, perhaps, call it Fender Forum Fotos. :P
Poof!
Sorry about that. I was daydreaming.

Aw, fuggedaboutit.
FSB

I’ll likely cave and choose one of the programs mentioned or similar. I’m weaker than I used to be.

I use Twitter because it's easy and straight forward. But I do wonder how long will it last? Maybe it'll go the way of other sites and start restricting things like public photos. But for now it's good.

I forgot when replying here that I used to use Panoramio for posting photos but Google closed it down and as far as I can see they haven't replaced it with anything comparable. When they closed Panoramio I already had a Twitter account so I started using that.

Yeah, you suggested that to me, when I was having issues with my old method for posting pics here, and it's never given me a problem. I just have it set to totally private, since I'm not utilizing any of the social media aspects of the site. I only use it when I posts pics here, since this site seems to be a pain in the arse to do so for that sort of thing.
