Howdy Folks!

So I'm undertaking a bit of a project. I'm looking into getting 2 Fender Player Strats. A buyer is selling a modded black one on Reverb equipped with a loaded American Pro pickguard with the V mod pups as well as a rosewood neck with American Pro tuners. I essentially want to take the neck and pickguard and transfer it over to the sunburst model and then take the neck and pickguard and put it on the black one. My only question is whether it would be a simple swap? Would i be able to take the electronics and simply move them over? Any tips? Advice? Thanks!

Howdy Stryder44029! Welcome to the Forum. I have one Stratocaster with no mods. I have modded Stratocasters for other guitar players though. It is a fairly easy task.

The first thing to do is to evaluate your own skills. And while at it, check the toolbox contents, too.

The neck swaps you're planning can require a bit more than a regular "string-change-setup". Even when swapping between two Player Strats, there may be some (I'm thinking minor) woodwork required to get the neck fit and angle proper. And when the swap is done, both guitars need a full setup.

With the pickguard & electronics swap, you need to be able to solder (and desolder). Plan which wires (/which end) you desolder, attach them to the new body exactly the same way.

Practise the skills you're not confident with.
Take pics beforehand, make notes. Draw the modded wiring diagram if there's anything exceptional.
Don't panic.
And be sure that there is contact when you attach the ground lug to the body cavity conductive paint.
