I noticed that the fender logo is sometime placed in a different spot of the headstock of 1970's strat... Seem to be more often the case on lefty ... Any ideas why ?

You can't compare a lefty decal to a normal neck when it comes to the decals.
The large block lettering "STRATOCASTER" did not lend itself to "normal" placement on those necks.
Current (and older) models with the traditional headstock and smaller "STRATOCASTER" lettering fit between the nut and "ball", but even then, the decals changed through the years, including the size, color, and font of the "Fender" logo.
But the general positioning should be consistent... if you have something that looks off, it's probably a forgery, or a bad repair of a damaged decal.

Thank you for the reply Rich !

Im aware of the different logo over time... What I can't get my head around is the different position of these logos... only happening on lefty strat over a certain period of time 1976ish to 1979. Serial number are there and work and the neck look like a 40 year old neck with all the spec. I've seen a lot of lefty strat (from the 70's) with this logo... and happen to own one. (see the picture for a better understanding of what im talking about) There is just no literature on the subject. Any help?
