Rumor tells me that new vinyl records are being produced and are being chosen widely over CDs. This sounds utterly preposterous. Is there any truth to this?

I got it verbally from an audiophile who is married to a man in the music business. She should know, but it's hard to believe.

I know a lot of bands are putting new stuff out on both vinyl and CD. I would guess that MP3s have significantly cut into the CD market (Tower Records went out of business after all), so that might explain how vinyl could catch up.

She's married to him, not working with him. Could be, don't know why. Kinda like a scientist wife saying her husband's getting close to cure cancer. I'm a skeptical person though.

I know White Stripes puts there stuff out all on vinyl as well as cd. Gotta love that thick vinyl their record company puts out.

Instead of me doing a lot of typing explaining why vinyl is better please read whole article on this link.

If this means the resurrection of the album cover as an art form, I'm all for it.

Great article... thanks!!! Now it all makes sense. Like the whole "Tube vs Solid State Amp" thing.

I saw a news story on this topic this week on one of the national network TV stations. Looks like a trend. Maybe my old collection is worth something again. ;)

Vinyl IS making a resurgence...

...but do not expect it to become more than a few percent of the market.

Kind of like low-ish cost boutique product.

Vinyl is garbage. That's all there was when I was growing up. When CDs came out it was like a religious miracle. MP3s are better still.

Are you serious? MP3s strip a lot of the soundwaves from the bass side. If you like your music filtered, go for it.
