I'm sure you're familiar with Spongebob Squarepants...always talking about the burger he calls the "Crabby Patty" and always rambling on how wonderful it is...

GET A STRAT, they'd have that Spongebob guy rambling about those too. :D

I didn't vote because both have a place in music. There are days when I desire to play acoustic and days I desire to play electric. I would think what guitar you buy would depend on what you want to play and in at setting.

If you're happy playing acoustic and you are still learning, I would start by upgrading to a solid topped model. You will be amazed at the difference in tone! IMO, acoustics are better for learning because it's hard to hide anything.

What are you looking to spend?

My electric can sound a lot like an acoustic. But an acoustic can't sound much like an electric.

But if I were making the decision, I'd just pick the guitar based on its value as a tool for playing the music I like. In my case, there are no applications for acoustic guitars, so it would be a simple decision for me.

You can learn on both, but like someone had already said, accoustic does not hide anything when you make a mistake. Unplugged, electric can do just that. Good luck.

A StandardFender Stratocaster is a great starting point for any guitar collection, and since you already have an acoustic....

What kind of music would you like to play??? If it is electric, then buy an electric. If it is acoustic, then buy an acoustic.

You could get an Ovation Electric-Acoustic. From the one's I've played, they seem to have a lot in common with electric playability with an acoustic tone. It's more electric sounding than others though, so it's quite versatile with the right amp (as is any guitar, but I'm talking in terms of getting both acoustic and electric tones)

So Jess, you've got an acoustic, started a MySpace page, you're young and looking to expand.

I'd suggest checking out a Vintage Modified Squier like this one :
