I like the Fender straps to be extended as far as they will go. This is perfect when attached to a Strat or Tele. I like a longer strap for my SG.

Bridge pup of 34" bass just right of navel. Headstock at shoulder height.

Rarely play guitar standing.

I try to keep it midrange. Too low and I feel like an ape, too high and I look like an idiot.

Down to my waist is comfortable enough for me.

Agreed.

I remember George Harrison playing his old Gretsch about chest high.

I'll add one to that.

Unless I'm playing heavy grinding stuff, then it's quite a bit lower.

I'll add that this is the exact reason why I haven't worn a belt (except when I'm wearing my uniform) for over 25 years.

Hello Jbond1013g,

Rarely is a strap ever
on any of my guitars as I,
99 times out of a 100,
am sitting.

But when I stand
the high E string is
about equal to my bellybutton

Cheers.

I'm with Bill on this, but the high E string is hittin' the bellybutton not from the strap............but the gut.

And jbond1013g.....this is a great thread.

I like to wear mine so it's about an inch or less lower than where it is when I'm sitting. SO in other words--If I sit with a guitar and adjust the strap so it has just a tiny bit of slack with the guitar being held in playing position while I'm sitting--that will be most comfortable when I'm standing.
