Post subject:  glued in frets?

Yesterday I took possession of a NOS 2017 American Special Telecaster. It appears that the frets have been glued in. Is this correct? Hoping someone here will know. Thanks!

May be some overspray from the finish at the fret ends is all I can think.
Honestly not sure if Fender uses glue on the frets.

Please elaborate on this.
Exactly what gives you cause to suspect glue was used?

Why are glued in frets a problem?

Well, glue would certainly be a problem come re-fret time.
Not likely on a 2017 model just yet, though.
I dunno.
Maybe the dude plays that guitar 25 hours a day, 8 days a week and it's time already.

Fender used to install frets by sliding them sideways into the fret slot.
Those are a lot more resistant to lifting than pressed in ones.

Some builders & repairers think that glueing frets in is ok.
I know that Paul Smith has his company use water thin superglue, and they wick it in the fret slots to help prevent moisture ingress.
Stewmac prefer to use glue because it improves the sound of the instrument

There is another way:

A centuries old school method that still works today, especially if you have super duper jumbo frets. :P
