I just bought a new 52 Heavy Relic Butterscotch Blonde Telecaster. Sounds incredible. I see a lot of other custom shop guitars in Tele and Strat. Are each of them singularly unique (not every actual guitar but every 52 Heavy Relic) vs all other customs?

Welcome to the Forum bxlgotham. Congratulations for your new Telecaster! I guess you could say every guitar is unique even the ones off the assembly line and become more unique with your playing them. Enjoy!

Appreciate the thought, though I guess I have a more literal question. When custom shop guitars are made, is each one or many or any of them designed with a different tonal intent, either by use of different pups?

I think you could say any guitar that has been made by any company from low end to custom shop are designed with a specific tonal palette in mind, which is executed through a combination of hardware (pickups, wood type, body style, electronics).

Interesting question. The truth is you won't find two absolutely identical custom made guitars but more importantly guitars are unique with feel them and how YOU are playing them.
