Where did I go wrong?

I tell my two teenagers that if they're ever going to have wild makeup, purple hair and, shall we say, outlandishly fashionable teen attire, then this is the time to do it. There will come a time when it is unbecoming.

But no! My son insists on a military style haircut, t-shirts, and jeans.

My daughter doesn't even know what hair spiking mousse is. She always looks like she's dressed to go to church.

My son is the same way!!! VERY neatly dressed and groomed... very unlike his log-haired hippie dad.

Be glad, you got lucky then. Other parents are dealing with this issue with their preteen. :x

I was the same way with my dress. I had no desire to dress crazy, maybe your kids just feel the same way.

I've never had the desire to dress........well........."different". I've always felt comfortable dressing in blue jeans and a colored T-shirt.......and still do.

Kids always find a way to rebel against their parents. I read something a while back that suggested that the children of the current generation won't have tattoos or piercings because they will be considered old-fashioned.

I think sometimes half the fun of it is doing something that normally parrents wouldn't say "go ahead" to. But when you're told that you might as well go ahead it takes the point away for some kids. This knoledge coming from my sister, not personal experience! haha i'm more of the kind of person who will just do something cause it's fun, and not as much of a rebelion. 8)

Geez, I wish one of my friends was like that. She, out of nowhere, just started literally acting like she was a celebrity and treated all her friends, including me, like garbage. She was one of my best friends too.

At least your kids are more respectful. My friends' parents somehow don't know how to raise their kid right? Idk. :(

I am the same way, I just dress in whatever, not all crazy... no piercings, crazy hair color, anything like that. Not to mention, if I did, there would be a punishment for it... but I really don't have a desire to do so...

Well teenagers must be respectful to the elders of course when they behave properly too.
But adolesence's years are important & unique so i believe we must let them do what they want - i dont mean taking drugs but whats the matter if they dy their hair green or pierce their bodies? i think its quite normal.
Ask me - theres nothing worse than a "quiet" youth.

Hang in there, man. Looking back, I think that usually happens when girls realize that guys (not necessarily you, but in general) are interested in them.

I went to Catholic school. So the nuns beat me into leading a life down the straight path.........

Part of the process was washing my mouth out with soap. rulers across the hands, my school desk being turned over (with me in it), kissing the blackboard for 20 minutes........but you know...I wouldn't have it any other way. (was was a terror in those days).

I wish to thank all the nuns who had a part of making me who I am today.

No regrets at all.
