Live Aid.... I remember it well. Spent most of the day outside with my (future) wife's family having a BBQ for her birthday. They had a stereo system in the garage cranked up, and the whole Live Aid concert was playing live, simulcast on FM radio, alternating between Wembley Arena (London) and JFK Stadium (Philly). We'd go inside briefly and watch it live on TV as well.

Incredible performances!!!

I remember when that happened, but I don't think I really listened to much of what was going on, except whatever they showed on MTV, I guess.

The things that some people do, and get away with, are absolutely unbelievable. This really makes me mad.

I didn’t do a follow up with Live Aid, and I hadn’t heard about the money issues.

Thanks, Arjay and Mike for bringing it to my attention. Somebody should have gone chumming for sharks with those $&@#*~! creeps.

You don’t have to leave home to find disgusting skimming practices occur with a few charities and their top heavy organization. It’s called expenses.

Thankfully. the good and honest supporters rock this world.

Let's talk about the music. Who did you like? Dislike?

If memory serves me right Harry Belafonte hosted a TV special or guested on that news show 20/20 or whatever. He actually flew to some of the African nations, right there live with TV cameras rolling, and nothing had changed at all.

A massive chunk of $$$$ (if not all) was supposed to go to emergency food companies who were supposed to fly these huge crates of food to the African nations in distress. Pfffffftttt... Like that ever happened...

They (recording artists) originally came up with that "We Are The World" song in early 1985, and it raised awareness and DID actually start to work, generating something like $63 million for Humanitarian Aid to Africa. But then as we all know, the scammers and thieves got involved during the whole Live Aid concert and that was the end of it. :(

I remember watching Live Aid on TV, a friend came over and we watched it together, we particularly liked Mick Jagger and David Bowie and their version of Dancing In The Street.

I typed out a long winded post and was almost ready to click "submit" and then realized while I was proof-reading it that I was talking about politics, which is not allowed here and for good reason.

My pearls of wisdom shall not be shared this day.
