I'll usually just wear jeans or khaki shorts with a t-shirts and some Chucks or tennis shoes. Nothing special here. Most of my clothes are either free from sports events or music related (band shirts, fender T's, etc.). I tend not to waste my money at stores like Hollister when you can get the same stuff cheaper elsewhere.

Workmates are an interesting sounding board for this subject. Despite the suit, mine know me as a muso because I'm frequently carrying a guitar-related magazine and often bring my guitar into work if I'll be heading to an open mic or a party after work. The funny thing is they accept this.... Until they come and hear me play.

Before that you're a poser with a guitar in your hand. They never think of you as someone who might actually have some chops and a bit of soul. It's always refreshing to drop that on someone who thinks they've got you figured out.

Who gives a sh*t what shirt anybody wears. Unless you have a gig with a dress code (black tie, tux, etc...), this stuff doesn't reflect your musicianship.

The gigs I do, I get an email with the professional dress requirements for the gig, outside that, I wear whatever I am comfortable in.

What is normal :?:

I guess that I look pretty normal for someone fighting cancer. The hair is gray and thinning, the beard is trimmed (kinda) and the ponytail is history.

Even some professional musicians don't look too out of the ordinary. I think that as long as you have great talent and charisma, you don't need a fancy wardrobe to be a good musician. My clothes aren't too interesting, really. But no one really sees me as normal...at least, I don't think they do...I hope not!

In my opinion, people who need to have an identity, tatooes, certain dress sense, etc are either insecure or are lacking something proper in their lives. i used to dress in acertain way, my identity when I was a teeanager, but I'm oder now I dont need an identity I am who I am...

I notice a lot of facial hair on this forum. Maybe we should have a beard contest.

Actually im not normal. its not the way that i dress (well sometimes it is!) but my life style. they concider me as a weirdo freak or whatever! but i really dont mind. i really like to de different from them!

anyway i believe that someone who plays el.guitar is not neccesserelly a rocker. that depends on the music you listen to & you as a character.

for like the past 8 months ive had a Beatles hairstyle and have worn nothing but classic rock shirts and blue jeans so in the spirit of "A Hard Days Night" im not a mod or a rocker im a mocker.

Then that is your identity. Everyones got one. There's no right or wrong when it comes to how you like to look.

I cut my ponytail off every 3 or 4 years and donate it here:

Every two years I sent them one foot of ponytail. Been doing it since I had cancer in 2000. Feels like I'm giving back in a way. Any of you guys out there with long hair, it's a good cause. Someone going thru chemo can have a free wig.
