Hi Folks, I got to Liverpool yesterday and got a few snaps. It was a busy day and I've got a lot to sort out but for now.
This is one going down into the Cavern and one of me sat on the stage, there is only like, half of the original place at the moment, I don't know how much more they will be able to recover. It feels a lot different to when I was here in '67.But for now :-

Was the original stage really this small ? It might have been.

I'm about halfway back on the stage here. I've got more pics from the front

Whoa, tres cool, Rhumba!

Unless someone posts a picture of Sun Recording Studios I think you win the "Most Authentic Rock and Roll Location" competition hands down!

And to have actually played that venue back in the day - that seals the deal!! Respec'.

Well done, that fella - C

Hi Ceri and cheers,
I got to say, it was a good excuse for a nostalgia trip, I was sitting there and it was difficult to believe, accept, that it was forty two years ago that I stood here. I've got more pics from there and other places.
Hey man, there were a lot of Spanish football supporters here today, they had come over for the Liverpool-Real Madrid game. I'm glad it was before the match, Madrid lost 4-0.
At least for this moment, here, before all that, they were happy.
Hey..........and so was I.
Cheers pal

Strawberry Field. It was once a childrens home but now it's a shrubbery and grassy clearance.
There is a lot of graffiti in all languages, from the international tourists and probably, from a few locals.
Not far from John Lennon's childhood home........later!

EXCELLENT! Hey Rhumba, you've been biding your time, but now you're out to win, aren't you? :D 8)

BTW: I know you're based in Manchester, but is that home or are you originally from Liverpool? My wife's family is from the Manchester area (Saddleworth): very hot feelings regarding football rivalries - but for 4 - 0 against Real Madrid I think everyone becomes a Liverpool supporter at least for the day, don't they?

BTW (again): no doubt I've missed it somewhere, but what's the story behind the top hat photo, please? Is that one ringing a bell in the back of my head...?

Cheers - C

Mendips.....251 Menlove Avenue.
This is the house John Lennon lived in during his younger days.

It's a National Trust building now, you need to be on one of their tours to gain access indoors. Would be interesting, I think.

It's a strange feeling, visiting these places and it was a cold, windy day too.

Ceri, my old feckler  I actually ordered the T before Christmas and Brad sent me an e-mail, explaining there were delays due to all that Fender activity going on. So I haven't had it long.
As for the comp. I'm not bothered about winning ( no, honest  ) I do think that you have a great chance with that one, you have my vote anyway, you've really got into the spirit of it and you deserve some return.
It's more a sense of duty really that I've posted these because I've banged on so much about the British R&B scene of the sixties, I think it's time I put my pics where my mouth is :D
No, I'm not from Liverpool but from a town just outside Manchester, called Rochdale ( well a village near there ) and not too far from Saddleworth.
Good beer festival's there. I was in Uppermill a few years back, admiring a splendid narrow boat on the canal, nice bit of country around there, Yorkshire moors, hey, nice.
Yes, rivalry between Manchester and Liverpool supporters, wow! ( intense )
but yes, good win, I think we all agree on that.
When I was in Godfather, we all wore crazy gear, I think we were going for the Jethro Tull look. I had that hat, a long coat and suede knee length boots ( kinky ) with tassles hanging down. I had a silk scarf tied around my hat one night and this girl was admiring it and I made the mistake of letting her try it on and she ran off with it. Never to be seen again........grrr little sod.
Anyway I'm going on a bit here. You're fault. So many questions but why not ?
Cheers pal.

Ha! Uppermill - that's where the wife is from! Spent plenty of time there over the last ten years. Was walking across Saddleworth Moors a few weeks ago in a freezing fog: reached up and found my hair was caked with solid ice. Wow!

Regarding "going on": I presume you can tell that's very welcome round here, can't you? Gives the rest of us the feeling we're rubbing shoulders with "the real thing".

Anyhow: great pix! Definitely in the spirit of the thing!

Cheers man - C
