I pre-ordered a tenor tele in early February, as soon as I heard about them. Last week, I got an email from the reseller saying that the model has been discontinued. Is this true?

Best is to ask to Telecaster sub forum, more experts there

You might get answers by calling several retailers and ask if they're accepting preorders for the tenor Tele.

Tenor guitars are a tiny niche. They were relatively popular back in the '30s, and that heldover long enough that Gibson made some electric tenors in the '50s. (Maybe Fender too -- I just woke up and I'm a little groggy.) But demand dried up and there have been few if any electric tenors since then.

There's been a slight uptick in curiousity. Enough interest for Fender to consider making a batch.

But that was enough of a market for Eastwood to jump in with both feet. They're a small company that specializes in niche models anyway, and now they've got multiple tenor options.

It could well be that Eastwood has already saturated market demand. For something that won't be the primary guitar for most people, the few who wanted to add one to their collections may have been satisfied with the less expensive alternatives that were already available.

Fender may have done the preorders to see if there was enough demand to justify a production run. If they didn't get enough orders to make it profitable, they may have just decided to cancel the project.
