My wife has dragged me to see this guy every time he comes around. And -- I must admit -- he puts on an AMAZING show and is also a great git player. He is a top-5 performer. He leaves it all on the stage.

For sheer entertainment power, nobody held the stage like Freddie Mercury.

Even though I'm not a fan, Bono is one who can really hold an audience in his hands. Mick Jagger used to be able to also. Now he's just ludicris.

Okay, this entry is a band and not a single performer. I have seen soooooooooo mannnnnny concerts and bands in my life. The best ever was the Who in October, 1982. They played the Oakland Coliseum, one of the very few small IN-DOOR gigs they did on their stadium tour. To this day, that was the best I have ever seen...

hands down, greatest performer I've ever seen live, and you'd have to see them in concert to know exactly what I'm talking about,

Rise Against

Specifically, their lead singer, Tim McIlrath.

He just puts so much energy into his music, it's amazing. Especially on songs like Give it All.

Elvis always had good musicians behind him. Scotty Moore, Bill Black and this chickin' picker, James Burton....

live performance its gotta be a toss up between
The KING, jerry lee lewis, or bruce springsteen circ 76-85

recorded performance its between
The KING, and the beatles.

As much as i would liked to have picked springsteen just on the sheer marathon of energy he performed with during that period and the fact that i like his records. Ive got to opt for ELVIS.
without a doubt the true KING of rock n roll, even though i cant stand most of his stuff. Shows how great he was eh?

For me it's:

John Lennon the greatest singer songwriter and the most influential political artist of our time was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m. on December 8, 1980.

At least he didn't die from his own self abuse.

music is not about politics at least until the British made punk rock political.
All lennon did was make some sing along anthems 'war is over' 'give peace a chance'. Lennonn never changed nothing in the political world.
Like many others before and after him he became a socialist/communist when he had the money to do so

Elvis got the girl, the record sales, the movies, the charts, the gigs and the Fender Strat.

+1 for Elvis - first LP I ever bought with my own money - got to see him a couple of times - many fine songs in many different styles.

The Ed & Dave show would be there circa 1981-1985.

This is at least for the times when Dave was on his game. When Dave was on, he was amazing. When Dave was off (read "drunk off of his $@!"), he was horrible. Eddie - however - was always on...
