A new addition to the stable arrived today...

An Un-played 2009 25th Anniversary Heritage Custom H-150

Image
This guitar (equivalent to a Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Standard, but better) was one of only three produced in 2009 as Grand Prizes for the 25th Anniversary of Heritage Guitars celebration - the first annual Parson's Street Pilgrimage (Heritage Owner's Convention held annually at the old Gibson Guitar Factory #2, 225 Parson's Street in Kalamazoo, MI, where the very first Les Paul was produced in 1952).
Image
Image
Hand built by ex-20-year Gibson Luthiers, on original Gibson Tooling, using some uber-rare NOS Gibson stock - Brazilian Mahogany for the one-piece Back and Neck (leftover stock from Gibson's move to Nashville/Memphis in 1984 (too expensive to ship back then, now priceless as Amazon Hardwoods are now Restricted) - reserved only for the Heritage Custom Shop). A solid, Michigan-sourced, hand-carved, Flame Maple Top (not steamed plywood like Gibby) finished in Nitro Cherry Burst, NOS solid Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, also now restricted (not 'Baked Maple' like Gibby), with Hand Wound HRW Bridge and Neck Humbucker pick-ups (wound on the original Gibson Winder, operated back in the day by Seymour Duncan himself) by ex-Gibson Engineer and Heritage co-founder Rendall Wall (now unobtanium), w/ hand-carved Trapezoid White Abalone Inlays.
Image
Image
The Winner, a writer (who wrote the definitive book on Heritage Guitars), historian, collector and owner of 2 other Heritage guitars decided to leave this one unplayed to be the centerpiece of his collection of rare guitars. 10 years on, he decided that it best deserved to be played by a loving owner and I was able to pick it up for a very juicy price. And there's not a mark on it, it's cleaner than many new guitars I see in the shops.

Trust me when I say these pics do not do it justice !
It just arrived this morning and after 8 hours acclimation, I unboxed her, tuned it and it plays like a Dream... sustain for days !
Having sat for a decade, tomorrow, I'm gonna re-string it and do a full setup. It plays well, but maybe the intonation is a slight sharp, so I'll check that.

This will be my 'Ginger' to my 'Jeannie', my 2010 Heritage H-535 w/ Seth Lovers.
Image
For those unfamiliar, Heritage Guitars are amazing instruments which quite literally out-Gibson Gibson and represent some of the nicest guitars and best value-for-money out there.

But don't worry, with my '11 FSR Ltd. Ed Am Vtg. '57 Strat (1of1), '15 Am. Deluxe Ash Strat, '99 Deluxe Nashville Tele, '13 Telebration Empress Tele and '14 FSR Set-neck, Mahogany Carved Top Telecaster HH, I'm still very much a Fender guy !

9 guitars total... I'm not sure I can afford the strings !

cheers1

An outstanding example of what true craftsmanship used to look like when the "big boys" were building guitars. Bet it sounds heavenly through your blackface Fender Deluxe.

Haven't gotten that far yet... Mrs. LMN got back from meetings in Pebble Beach (US Open) at 5 and we went to dinner.

After that, it was too late (Condo and neighbors home from work). Besides, I need to check the setup (seems about 99%, considering it's long hibernation, that's pretty good !), but the neck may still move for a couple days, so I'll wait.

But, I did plug it into my '65 VC played through a C12N in a remote and it was amazingly clean, but it got a little nice and dirty when I pushed it :)

Actually thinking of selling the Deluxe because I almost never use it. The VC is my go-to and if that doesn't do it, my '73 PR usually gets the Duty. Nate Westgor (Willie's American Guitars) expressed an interest, but he'll expect me to leave some meat on the bone so we'll see.

cheers!

A beauty, Lightnin’. Nice grab. That baby, as you said, needs to be played with. Congrats!

As for your Heritage pics I just got “Image” texted on your original post. However, with a quote from your post and a preview for this post the photos were revealed?

Anyhoo, I’ll present the same for others who might miss out should the pictures follow accordingly. These deserve a look. Thanks, for those.

Luvin’ the LE0 on the Fender nameplate and your H-535 8)

Enjoy your new member of the family, Lightnin’.

FSB

Any idea what the weight is?

Note: It’s one thing to reproduce the form and electronics of a guitar, but to reproduce a similar finish is equally, and sometimes more, difficult when you consider the creativity and material used. The rest is usually obtainable, and can often be surpassed, by those in the know. Here is a fine example. IMHO.

Update: When I posted this . . . photos in the original post worked as planned. Must have been a gremlin at this end.

Thanks !

The LE0(2639) is the serial # of my 'Mary Ann', a 2011 FSR Ltd. Ed. Am. Vtg. '57 Stratocaster ! It was 1of46 produced, but because of some issues (and a HORRENDOUS 18 mo. ordeal - see archives) it now sports a Custom Shop Body making it now 1of1.

She is one of my ménage à quartre - my ultimate guitars:

2009 Heritage 25th Anniversary Custom H-150 - 'Ginger' because she's curvy and Red!

2011 FSR Ltd. Ed. Am. Vtg. '57 Stratocaster - 'Mary Ann' because she's always 'Girl next door' Fun!

2010 Heritage H-535 - 'Jeannie' because she can do Amazing things !

'Ginger' weighed-in this morning at 3901gm or about 8lbs 9oz, maybe slightly below avg. for an LP Standard. It doesn't feel heavy at all maybe because it's not as large as a Strat or neck heavy... But, maybe it's just because my feet haven't touched the Floor yet when I'm playing her...

cheers!

 Thanks, for the reply and the details. Nice bevy there. Can’t complain about that 8lbs 9oz, huh? A little extra weight can be sexy; but, at least that girl isn’t obese.

The 550... isn't that the True Hollow Body... like the ES330?

It takes some SERIOUS Chops to make Heavenly Noise from that... !!

If the Universe grants me the Days, I hope someday to become Worthy !!

cheers... !!

More like the ES275...It nearly plays itself, it came to me that way. Very low action, updated Schaller adjustable roller bridge.
