The effects loop in my amp is fully buffered and wired in series. I never use it but want to start using it for certain effects. As such I need to buy some cables. For those of you who use the effects loop in your amp what length of cables are you using? I currently run a 15ft cable from my board to the front of my amp and a 10ft from my guitar to my board (plus patch cables). Since the effects loop is in the back of my amp I was considering 20ft, but I am concerned an additional 40ft (20 send + 20 return) could have a negative impact or is this a non issue since the loop is fully buffered?

Cable length in a pedal board system always matters.
In some systems it matters more or less than in other systems but there are no conditions under which cable length does not matter at all.
Keeping it as short as possible is always the best course.
If you have a soldering gun it might be in your interest to invest in some quality bulk cable and some quality ends and fabricate cables in custom lengths to suit your exact needs.
Mogami cable and Switchcraft ends are both generally considered to be of very high quality.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I'm considering this option, but trying to figure out what length would be the best compromise between adequate length and minimal effect on tone. Right now I may be leaning towards 18ft each using mogami 2524 (gold line). I think would allow adequate distance from the amp while being able to keep the cables to the side of a stage.
