I own the DKMG, its really nice, especially for metal. I'm thinking of just ordering in a Strat neck to slap on it though because the neck is slightly chunky. Otherwise it sounds great!

install a floyd rose in your coffee table and it would probably play the same as one.

Thats why they have bolt-on necks, so you can replace them. :D :D

Sure you can, it just has to have the right dimensions, in which you can get a custom neck I'd suppose.

i love em. just got rid of my rr3, i put emgs in my js30(its been round the world with me) and had no need for it. the duncans dont sound good on the rr3.
my js30 has had a tough life. been thrown around, sub zero 30,000 ft high cargo holds, played within a inch of its life night after night. all i've ever had to do to it was re-solder the jack socket, oh and i re-angled the neck but i even had to do that to my vintage hotrod. £250 6 years ago it certainly doesnt owe me a penny.
you can put fender necks on em. I put a mex fender neck on mine for a day but soon got fed up. jackson/charvel started as a manufacturer of replacement parts for fender guitars

I dont like the floyd much either. Aside from it being a complete tone nullifier its uncomfortable and inefficient, Kahlers perform much better and are more comfortable. They still kill tone though. Still when your playing metal is a guitar's tone important, Ive always thought harder genres of music relied more on amp tone.

My DKMG has a Floyd Rose on it, I just up and blocked it off with 2 blocks of wood and like 3 thin-gauge picks (I hate thin gauge, heh).

But then with that, I kinda like the FR when its blocked off, more sustain and it keeps the strings locked in place a bit more effectively as a tuner as a whole. Although I'm thinking once I get a replacement neck I'm going to actually have it glued in there to make it a set-neck for even MORE sustain. :D

I also kinda like the slappy-palm-mute sound I get out of it, I sure can't get it with my hardtail Gibson. :P

I had a Jackson about 10 years ago, but I never bonded with the Floyd Rose Locking trem and nut.

I have a Jackson Pro Concert V bass that I love dearly!! Sounds great - plays great!

I don't hear much at all about these basses.

2 octave neck, white, P/J config pups, 5er -- what more could ya ask??

Image

Bought it for $600 out of a pawn shop in '99.

set neck wont give you anymore sustain than a bolt on infact it could detract. The glue hampers resonance from the neck transfering to the body. The reason les pauls sustain so much is from the maple cap and the pickups being wound specificaly for that cap. Ever noticed that cheap les paul copies or even gibson sg's dont sustain like a les paul.
Why change the neck anyway. Jackson necks are the fastest of all the shred guitar market and the frets are rock solid. mine has next to no fretware despite 350+ gigs under its belt.

If there was a Jackson at the shop when I bought my Tele that was cheaper, I probably would have gotten one.

Also, Bullet For My Valentine uses Jacksons, and they are good.
