As far as warranties...read the fine print, anyone who uses anything other than Fender strings pretty much has voided their warranty (unless they changed the warranty fine print recently  ).

OK, so here's a link to the warranty, nothing about strings: http://fender.com/support/pdfs/FENDERLIMITED64CE6.pdf except for #5 but changing strings is not modifiying. Not that it matters to me, none of mine are under warranty anymore anyways.

PS. can't register anything older than 2000 online.

I might have confused it with the Squier Warranty, which at the bottom of the second page, has something about Fender Strings:
http://squierguitars.com/pdf/warranties ... T64CEC.pdf

What would worry me about both warranties is #10, because what is considered as "service" in the Fender warranty? Is doing your own intonation or truss rod adjustments considered service? If it is, does that mean if I set my own intonation or truss rod, since I am not a "Fender certified technician", does that mean I have voided the warranty? Its broad language like that, that makes you think you are covered, but can be an easy out for companies to exclude you from warranty service.

It's just saying you won't get the best performance out of your instrument if you don't use Fender strings. Say you changed your strings to DR, then you complain to Fender saying the tone has changed, Fender can't do anything about that. Kinda like changing your oil in your car to a different brand but same weight, it won't/shouldn't void your warranty.

I understand that, but here's my next issue with the warranty:

That goes with how good of a custumer you are to your local Fender dealer. I do my own setting, but if need be I can go to my local Fender dealer and they can ck things out for me. This issue with #10 is bothersome to people with new instrument(s). Mine are both out of warranty. I do get where you're coming from on this issue. Chet can you help answer this question? Maybe even Brad?

I've registered my 2 Squiers and my 1 Fender. I don't think it hurts to let Fender know who's buying/getting their guitars - and what kind of music folks play.

Why not register? The guitar plays and sounds better after registering. True story.
