This question is to those who've had several guitars over their playing career. What was your first ever guitar, and do you still have it and play it? More interestingly, what do you most often play now and how does it compare to your first?

My first guitar was a Ibanez GA6CE Acoustic Electric guitar, not too bad at the time but is collecting dust now besides for the occasional play. Currently, I am mainly playing my sunburst Fender Highway One Strat. The road from then until now is littered with one more ibanez (an ax220), and since then has been all Fender. Oh, and a Squier '51! :D

My first guitar was a mini Classical guitar. I mess with it from time to time. But it mostly just sits. I cant get rid of it. It has sentimental value.

First guitar was a cheap acoustic at age 11. Lost interest at age 11.1. Fast forward to age 17 and I got a Gibson Flying V. Looked cool but could not play my way out of a wet paper bag. Fast forward 3 years and I sold it cause I needed some cash. Next guitar was a Fender HW1 strat at age 40. Wish I had the passion then that I have now, heck I could of been a contender 8)

My very first guitar was a very cheap, no name, acoustic.

I had a drum set at the time too and traded that in for a Hondo guitar and amp.

Later on I traded the Hondo in for a Cort brand guitar. That guitar got trashed after years of use and abuse.

I had a Fender Strat (lemon yellow color) but got rid of it... out grew the color.

Also owned a low-end Gibson Les Paul. That has been sold some time ago.

Then, I picked up a Charvel Guitar, 84 era I just recently found out. I still have it.

I've owned and played two other Ibanez Guitars and a Squier Telecaster, as well as an Ibanez SG bass... all of which have been sold.

I now have an Epiphone Special that I still play as well as my beloved Charvel.

My 4th is a Fender Kingman (will never sell)

My 5th is a Fender Koa Strat (thought about selling it but not going to)

My 6th is a Fender Tele with Bigsby (never gonna sell)

and to top it off hopefully a Guild 12 string this month for my birthday!

First- Squier Affinity Strat (Old Faithful). It's been to hell and back. Few different sets of pickups, been dismantled, rebuilt, etc. I still mess around on it sometimes.

Now- '68 Re-Issue Reverse Headstock strat (aka Hendrix Voodoo strat). I don't think I'll ever get rid of it. It's that strat that you get and you're like "this is what I've been looking for out of a guitar".

First guitar = Sunburst Standard Tele with Maple neck. (Still have it and will never part with it, it's looking vintage).
AND
Second guitar = 2006 , Vintage white American Telecaster with maple neck, just a plain and simple thing of beauty.

My first guitar was plastic: one complete vacuum-formed plastic piece, with molded plastic frets and little fake plastic knobs and plastic friction tuners and a plastic amp with a hard-wired carbon-button mic that you could stick to the face of the guitar with suction cups. Bright yellow, red and blue, with a glued-on paper pickgaurd that showed some 60's swingers dancing against a psychedlic sunburst. Nylon strings. It came with a tiny book of chord shapes and folk songs.

I wanted to make music with a guitar so badly that I learned to keep it in tune and play it. After seeing I was serious as a heart attack, my dad bought me a $15 Norma acoustic. Frets like pig iron, voiced liked a coffee table.

First "real guitar" was a Goya classical purchased in the summer of '68. My main guitars now are a modded Am. Series Strat and a modded Jimmie Vaughan Strat. Both of those have their good points and flaws.

My first was a Kay (circa 1962). Now I play (mostly) Strats, a Tele and a 335.

First guitar was a Yamaha FG-75 I got for my birthday in 1970. Right now I have 8 guitars but the one I play most is my EJ strat.

My first guitar was an acoustic Indian Scout. It had really high action and was really tough to play. I could only really play open chords on it, due to the high action. Then I decided I really wanted to get into guitar and bought a Takamine Series G electrocoustic. Now I finally have entered the electronic world and currently play an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I'll be pretty happy with that for a while. Can't really afford to buy anything else, and I don't really want to buy a Fender or a Gibson until I can afford something of top notch quality.
