I don't like how our craft has been reduced down to a little plastic kid's toy with 5 buttons >_> That being said it sure is fun when played with the right people, but that can be said about any game really ^^ So I'll go Switzerland

I couldn't get the hang of it. Was trying to play "The Trees" with my nephew and niece and just had too much difficulty adapting to the 5 buttons in place of strings. My hands were to focused on trying to play the thing proper.

This is pretty funny and about sums it up for me:

I don't have a console to play it on, so I can't comment on the game from that perspective. I don't have any issue with it as a phenomenon though. I actually think GH and Rock Band have done more than anything else in recent years to get people listening to guitar-centric music again, which I think is nothing but a positive. It might start more than a few of them down a new road of musical discovery.

Definitely agree with you there. I was wearing an Iron Maiden shirt one day and a young black kid in the elevator told me he loved playing their tunes on Guitar Hero.

We have both guitar hero and rock band II for the Wii.
Mostly gets used when the grandkids come over, or people have a bit too much fire water.
Then it can get hilarious (especially rockband II)

Just turn a recorder on and play it back to them when sober :D is even funnier. :D

I guess it's fun, but I think the better you are at real guitar, the more you suck at Guitar Hero. Personally I'm pretty bad. I've actually strained my thumb playing guitar hero, causing me to be unable to play REAL guitar as a result of my injury.

That's not true in my case! :D

I used to be a guitar hero freak. It used to be all I ever played for video games. HOWEVER (before everyone yells at me) I got bored of playing the songs and being just GREAT at guitar hero. So I decided to pick up a real guitar, seeing if I could learn to play a real guitar just like guitar hero.

Well, its definitely not the same, but there is a cord on guitar hero that is similar to a power chord (green-yellow, red-blue, yellow-orange). You definitely feel better playing an actual electric guitar than playing a game. You feel awesome knowing you're playing the same notes as the awe-inspiring guitarist who actually PLAYS the song on the CD!!

Personally, I like the sound of music out of an amp more than the sound of music out of a TV. Like I said, you feel ready to take on the world with your guitar playing abilities. 8)

I still play guitar hero, just not nearly as much. I'm addicted to electric guitar now. 8) 8) 8)

Not really my favorite , I am more a Simpsons, Saints Row, GTA kind of gamer.........comedy or violence.... I tried it with some friends and, it was "why bother?!?!?"
Why waste the actions on the fake plastic guitar.
The singing was fun, and the drums are like a Roland set. I liked the drums and played those all night 8) .

I prefer the real thing.

I got the Aerosmith one for cheap from Target. It's okay and all, but I prefer the real guitar.

I hate guitar hero.

It made actual guitar players hard to take seriously anymore.

After the games were released, there seems to be some kinda common thought that any average joe can pick up a guitar and be Ronni Le Tekro or Jimi Hendrix.

I hated it and was totally against it but my view changed after I bought it for the kids two Christmas ago as it made my youngest son want to play the real thing after a few months besides teaching them some classic tracks. So I say it has a purpose.
