I've been trying to find out when deluxe strats will be shipped to the uk and, for the last two weeks I have been trying to contact Fender, both here in the UK and the parent company in the United States.

Neither, apparently, can be bothered to reply. I even called Fender UK and they promised someone would get back to me with an answer, needless to say they never have.

Either they don't know when the guitars will ship or they simply can't be bothered with emails from customers. Not very impressive.

What am I looking for in the FAQ?

I too have never had a problem with Fender products, I'm just trying to find out when new stock is arriving in the UK.

Mike,

Have you tried asking your local dealer to call or ask their rep. They should have a better handle on the current state of the shipments.

Hi X,

I did speak to my dealer first, he was the one that told me to contact Fender. I also rang a couple of other Fender stockists and they all told me the same.

Still no replies by the way.

I certainly do not mean to excuse the lack of reply, but my only thought here is the following: if you wanted to know when a certain model Chevrolet was going to hit your area, would you call Chevy directly?

Crewood,

I'm certainly not trying to push one on you, but you have other options. Contacting an online dealer in the states that ships to the other side of the pond is one of them, the other is eBay.

There are many reputable ones that I know will work with you, I say this with the understanding that you would like to purchase one but I may be wrong.

X-Road, Fender do not allow their US dealers to ship to the UK, more's the pity as they cost much less over there. Buying from eBay is like opening a can of worms, some bargains but many problems as well.

With regards to the point Brad makes, the answer to that one is a big YES. It is not uncommon for buyers to contact car makers in the UK, they will even tell at what stage your car is in the manufacturing process and let you know a rough delivery date. Our cars are ordered from the dealer, not bought on the lot. The dealer gives you the rough delivery date and the manufactures contact details.

Brad's also right, there is no excuse for not replying to emails, I accept that Fender makes the guitar I prefer to buy and I'm waiting reasonably patiently for it to arrive. But it only takes a few seconds to reply to emails even if it's just to acknowledge reciept and say we're on to it.

Crewood,

i am currently waiting for the arrival of my Fender American Vinatge '62 strat. the dealer i bought from had to order it in for me from Fender UK. But Fender UK have none. so he said my strat will be at the store at the end of August. so if they ship in bulk, which they may well do i dont know. yours could turn up end of august/early september.

Bo

I've gotta go ahead and lock this thread and probably should have done so already, as it's really well outside the scope/purpose of this forum. Please review the welcome message: this is an enthusiast forum and is not intended to deal with individual customer service issues -- nor is there anyone here monitoring it who can speak with authority to the question you're asking.

I completely agree that it sucks that you've not received a reply to your question, but there are many reasons that might have happened. Your e-mail(s) might have been blocked by FMIC's rather aggressive junk mail filter; your message might have been received and forward along to another more authoritative party; that party might be on vacation. The list goes on and on. Rather than speculating about it here, your best bet would probably be to pick up a phone and dial the customer service line directly.
