Yeah, Mountain don't get the props they deserve. Leslie, Felix and Corky were pretty damn good.

I definitely agree. Many people think of Mountain as a 1-hit wonder  What ignorant people

Also underrated in my book, Blue Cheer. These guys have been rocking for 40 years now, and they were one of the very first, if not THE FIRST, band to use a wall of Marshall stacks/cabs as a backdrop, and any and every band that does that should be paying them royalties...

I love the band, but I'm not exactly sure they're underrated. I mean, aren't they in the rock and roll hall of fame?

Yeah but on alot of other forums i mention them and everyone is like "Who the hell is The Band and why did they choose that name" its just they need more credit for what theyve done and most people remember them by "The Last Waltz" but heres a fact: the only person wanting to retire from the road was there Guitarist Robbie Robertson so he shecduled the concert behind the rest of The Bands back

Contemporarily.... Sonny Landreth is probably the greatest slide guitar player in music. As Eric Clapton said " he's the most under-estimated musician in the world ". If you get a chance to see him, don't pass it up.
He's that GOOD !! :)

From the past .... Rory Gallagher was never appreciated in the United States like he was in Europe. His band was one of the top concert acts all
throughout the 70's. Perhaps he never really promoted himself properly by having his brother as his manager after being ripped off by his prior manager.
Roy Buchanan also is almost criminally forgotten. What a guitarist !!

Understood. One thing's for sure, they are one of the most influential rock bands of all time and deserve all the praise we can heap on!

IMO, John Frusciante's solo albums are unbelievably underrated.

Buckethead. He's an amazing, extremely diverse guitarist who doesn't get much credibility. I think people don't take his act seriously due to the obvious bucket on his head and the rest of his get up, the robot dancing, handing out toys, and num-chuck routine. His playing style and music is amazing though. He'll go from an insanely fast solo to a country-esque song to one of the most emotional riffs you'll hear.

Here's another vote for BH. I had heard of him years ago, but never actually heard him play. The pics of him wearing a mask like the Phantom of the Opera and an empty (I assume) KFC bucket for a hat made it hard to take him seriously . . . but as I found out in just the last couple of years, the guy can PLAY!
