I really like being able to just download songs off itunes, so I vote for MP3. It really cuts down on the amount of stuff to keep organized.

Interesting subject.

CD's make listening to music just about anywhere you easier.

Vinyl when possible at home but in truck or cars I plug in the MP3 or a CD
but mostly the MP3 in the head unit. Somtimes I watch music or movie dvds in my truck because I have a 7" screen in dash.

I don't really have any vinyl recordings of my own. They sound great, but it's much easier for me to get CD's and mp3s to listen to on my iPod.

I've been converting some of the tunes on my vinyl collection to mp3's. It's a great way to preserve some of your favorite songs. I have a turntable with a USB plug.

I use Audacity to record them and mix them, usually just "clean up the mix" a little, and Lame to convert to mp3's.

Audacity tutorial (great free product!) :

I like the idea of sitting down to listen to a record- take out the sleeve, look at the art work, lyrics, notes etc
You feel you have much much more than just a CD or worst still a downloaded song.
I do listen to cds quite alot of the time though. If I had more time it would be more vinyl. I still love going into the second hand record shops and coming across some long forgotten album.

I just picked up Nostradamus by Judas Priest on Vinyl. I love the sound you get from vinyl.
That being said, you can't play them in the car, so CD it is.
I hate MP3s and IPods. You lose so much when you try and cram 10000 songs onto them. I think kids today don't realize how much sound quality and music they are actually missing when they listen to MP3s and ITunes. Nothing beats a quality player and quality headphones in a quiet room. I close my eyes and get lost in the layers of instruments and sounds.

I prefer vinyl when I'm at home I listen to CDs in the car I don't own an mp3 player anymore. I grew up listening to vinyl 45's and 33's just hard for me to get used to the digital records. I'm not an audiophile obviously.
