I have a G-DEC Jr and am looking to upgrade, mostly for the following reasons:
1) Want an amp that can sound good in my house without being too loud.
2) Want really good sound quality, more like a good stereo speaker
3) Want to be able to plug in headphones as output and MP3 player as input
4) Want to be able to adjust the different parameters of an amp, like bass, mid, treble, presence, gain, etc individually.
5) Want a few effects and digital models.

I'm not sure whether the G-DECs will do that. My understanding is that the Roland Cube 20 might be a good candidate for this, but I'd have to hear it first.

Any advice you can give will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have used two different amps that do what you listed. The first is the Vox Valvetronix series. This is basically a modelling amp with a tube pre-amp and a solid state post-amp. I would get the 30 watt amp if you decide on this line, it has a dial that will vary the output between 0 and 30 watts.

That said, I bought a 15 watt valvetronix amp and was very unhappy with it. The quality seemed pretty low and after a week or so of playing it, the input jack stopped working. I took it back to the store and swapped it for a Line 6 Spider 30 watt amp. With the Line 6 it is a little harder to dial in an organic "tubish" tone, but once you use it a little, the sounds you get are better than with the Vox. Both amps have some effects, head phone jacks, and the Line 6 has an audio input.

After all of that, my guess is that the longer that this post is up, the more people there will be who try to get you to buy a Blues Junior. It's really the best reasonably priced amp that you can get to play at home.

Good Luck!

The Roland Cube Series of amps is fabulous. I own a Cube 60. I have a friend that gigs with a Cube 30 (mic'd).
I was actually looking at the Blues Cube at one time, but I got a deal on the Cube 60 and took it.
Don't overlook the Micro Cubes either.

Cyber-Twin and turn it down. Personally (for decades), 'prefer a big amp for home use. Get one of top quality and a big one does not have to work hard.

C-T: Mag-frigging-nificent amp.

And you can take it out and gig almost anywhere.

Personally....I'd like to see Fendere take Crate's "Limo" battery powered amp and rework it into something far better.

I'm sure there would be a market for it.

+1
I love mine. If the OP is looking for something a little less spendy he can try a Peavey Classic 20. 15W of dirty rock n roll. They aren't easy to find cause people tend to keep em, but they're out there.

I was going to suggest one of the XDs, but there's no headphone jack.

I like the Roland Cube 30X It has 9 COSM amp types and the onboard EFX includes chorus, flanger, trem ,phazser you can switch from clean to lead and it has apower squeezer. now my son when he is not using my VOX AC30 he play through a VOX AD30vt which is part of there valvtronix line the power stage work like a push pullpower amplifier it ises a 12AX7 it also has 11 great effects. My favorite one is the BOUTIQUE OD

They are solid state but sound tremendous, especially good for heavier stuff. Lots of USEFUL effects along with the other stuff you mentioned. Great amps in my opinion ... and very affordable.

You might be able to find a Cyber-Champ?

You won't regret it if you do. It's worth it just for the 66 Super Reverb and the 58 Deluxe.
