A short while back there was a question about the appropriate age for a child to start learning guitar... I read this article this morning and was blown away. Do we have the next SRV? If this kid can play like this at 8, imagine how he'll be playing at 18!

Also, check out the videos on his website. I'm speechless.

Child prodigies are very rare. Kids like Kenny Wayne Shepard, Johnny Lang, and a kid in Arizona that was playing bars at the age of 14 by the name of JD Simo. Outstanding talents but sometimes they just don't have the longevity in their career. When is the last time you heard from Johnny Lang? KWS put out an album a few years ago, but I don't think he has done anything recently.

Actually, I saw Jonny Lang just a few months ago In St Pete, Florida... and going to see him again in October. He still plays as good as ever... if not better.

Wow, that is very cool. I always loved his music! Also a very distinct singing voice!

Assuming that the prodigies have short careers is all the more reason for letting them proceed in an unfettered manner while they are at their peak.

I don't know the character of the bars this young fellow has been playing it, but it is quite easy to find perfectly good, safe bars that would not be an immoral influence on a child. The government in this case is probably just using the sort of heavy-handed and mindless tactics that it is known for.

I seriously doubt that the parents are stupid enough to allow their kid to play at a rough house.

Derek Trucks has been a child prodigy and has maintained very impressive career. All before his 30th birthday.
