I am a fan of blues, and heavily blues influenced rock, and i wanted to know which artists people like.

although all rock is blues based, i am talking about rock where you really hear the blues i.e. voodoo child.
if i forgot some, please feel free to say anyone that i didn't post :)

I wouldn't call any of the members of the poll my favorite artists. I'm more a fan of modern rock. There are plenty of threads on favorite artists though, so do a search and I'm sure you'll find plenty of answers.

I don't have one single favorite. I like too many. The list you put up has some of my favs in it. I have a few to add in no particular order and not my complete list.

Gary Moore
Joe Bonamassa
Tommy Castro
Robben Ford

For blues where's Otis Rush, T-Bone Walker, BB King, Albert King, Freddie King, Albert Collins (you get the idea)?

If you mean blues based rock I wouldn't include Muddy Waters but I would have to include Johnny Winter, Michael Knust, Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Lowell George, & Billy Gibbons.

If I HAD to choose from your list give me Buddy.

I voted for Clapton (it looks like pretty much everyone else did, too). That said, I think that Albert King is the real king of the blues. 8)

The problem and the glory of music is that it is all subjective. It is subjective to the individual listener. I could rant and rave about how SRV's passion and heart he poured into his music makes him better than the rest. But you are just as passionate about EC or Jimi, or whomever.

That being said, ALL of the above mentioned are truly outstanding musicians as well as the myriads of others that weren't included. It is hard to pinpoint one artist and say he is the best. Because there will always be a disagreement from someone.

Suffice it to say that well written and played music kicks some serious $@!!

Although I am a fan of more or less all the aforementioned artists, at the moment I am most inspired by Son House, he invented the blues 8)
