How about Argents: God gave rock n roll to you?

No, it isn't really a Kiss song.

True, but Kiss had the "hit" (generally meaning a song in Billboard's Top 20). In fact, Argent and some of the other ex-Zombies wrote and recorded songs that were bigger hits for other bands. I could challenge quite a few I've seen posted here, but it's all for fun.

That's why they're one hit wonders, they used someone elses material. Of course they couldn't follow it up. Oh yeah, Kiss ruined that song. Took the tune and changed all the lyrics, sold it, made bucks. Just like a rap group.

Here's another 1HW penned by Chris White, yet another ex-Zombie. It was called simply, "I Love You". I don't recall ever hearing the Zombies' version, but it was a big hit in the late '60s for a band called People! (with an exclamation point). There are a couple of videos on YouTube, but neither includes the long intro. Anyone remember it?

Miami Mike -- This is a great thread. I'm reliving my youth!

Wow, I remember that song. And I doubt I've heard it since 1969. A nice little AM radio ditty.

While out walking yesterday, we passed a yard sale and I thumbed through a few albums (what was i thinking  ), but I remembered this thread and had to jot these two down...

Gimme Gimme Good Lovin' - Crazy Elephant

Someday, Someway - Marshall Crenshaw ( Not really a 1HW, but more of a "lost 45" I guess).

Speaking of 80s alternative indie hits, what about The Proclaimers "I'm Gonna Be"

refrain: "Oh, I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more..." in a nice Scottish brogue

Funky Town - Lipps

Since we are reliving the '80s stuff, how about Soft Cell's Tainted Love?

Do You Know What I Mean -- Lee Michaels

Used to hear this late at night with a specially recorded radio jingle from WKBW 1620 AM, Buffalo, NY. Ah, the golden age of AM radio.
