Just got back from a Whiskey tasting party where there was high-end 25+ yr old whiskey. There was Irish, Scotch etc. Some were over $150 a 5th. At the end of the day, It was the hand made Tennessee moonshine that I had to say "Damn that's some seriously good $@!&!"

I ended up going back over and over to that homemade Tennesse, moonshine, thinking it was the best tasting out of everything on display. Sweet, full flavor ... etc

Got me thinking about Americana. Damn if I'm not proud to be American! Here was a bunch of serious high-end whiskeys (where people have toiled over the recipe and worked hard to produce... some have been around for a150+ yrs... and I'll be dipped... that homemade moonshine in the mason jar IMO was the best!

Got me thinking about Fenders

IMO Fenders are exactly the same. For me, for my tastes, Fender is Americana and the best. Vintage or modern. If you live in the USA IMO count your self blessed. One of the reasons I play Fenders is that I still believe they make the best gear.

Go on Youtube look up " A Carr, A Princeton, A Blues Jr "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KitT0jIRzPs"

This vid showcases a $2500+ Carr amp that struggles to impress against a stock 65 Princeton or a NOS Blues jr! both with brand new stock speakers...both at least a 3rd of the cost!

Interesting video, the Junior Blues is impressive.
By cons I do not give much credibility in terms of sound quality (poor?) MP3 on the web to judge the sound.

There are indeed a lot of ways to pick the vid apart. But for me, the most important thing I took away from the vid was "they were all Recorded with the Same mic (probably a phone) at the same time."

A lot of time we listen with our wallets and not with our ears.

$2600 hand made amplifier and IMO it failed to outshine two of Fender's "off the shelf" amps on the same recording platform.

That's a statement!

Sure we can point to reliability, ease of repair etc.

But rather be negative. I'd rather give props to Fender. Once in a while, a company does something right, & considering Fender's size vs their competition: Fender has done a lot right. The Princeton and the Blues Jr... there is a lot more done right than done wrong.

American ingenuity it's hard to beat. No doubt Carr is a master craftsman at making amps. No doubt Carrs are fantastic amps. IMO what is impressive is Fender's ability to do what they do. I think it's easy to harp on something, knock it down, rather than hold it up, measure it, and see the positives.

Back to the Tennesse moonshine... after taste testing all those high-end whiskeys, That American spirit (literally) could compete with the best...

I would not made a choice or opinion ( $2600 hand made amplifier and IMO it failed ".. ) with listening on Y-T.

With my ears in front of the amps , thing could ( and will ) be different
