This guy started everything...

Fender - Do I need to explain. He started the strat/tele/jag/jazz/stang revolution ( mostly strats and little tele tho (why didnt the tele catch on))

Music Man - Made amps and basses I think.. Ernie Ball bought them... I think

G&L - One might say better than fender.$500 bucks look at the specs. Its like a Highway One +[/url]

The Telecaster caught on... just a little bit. I'd estimate that 40% of Fender guitars being used today are Telecasters.

I'd say the Tele's definately caught on. Right up there with the Strat and LP.

I think the entire team of designers Fender had back then deserve credit (Freddie, etc).

I know enough about G&L instruments to know that the model you linked to (the S-500) shares very little in common with Fender's Highway One Series, nor is it, by any stretch of the imagination, merely $500. I have a feeling you are confusing G&L's U.S. line with their offshore-built "Tribute Series" line.

That minor corrective detail aside, I'll certainly agree that the legacy Leo Fender left behind is simply astounding.

They're both good guitars--I've played good & bad Fenders and I've played good and bad G&L's.

Leo was behind the guitars of both--so there had to be something worthwhile about both company's guitars.

Actually Rock*Star is correct. MusicMan made guitars and amps. Once Ernie Ball bought the name they stuck with just guitars.
I have a '77 MusicMan 212-Sixty Five. It's basically a Fender Twin type amp. It sounds so good. The best drippy surf reverb ever!
