Sadly, Monkees’ keyboardist and bass player Peter Tork has left the stage for good. Davey Jones was the first and only other Monkee to have left in 2012 from heart conditions. Some have credited Peter as the more accomplished musician of the group.

Respect and sympathy for Peter’s family.

Many over the years have questioned the Monkees’ skills as a band. Not surprising since the Wrecking Crew were more or less hidden from the success of others. I think Peter and Mickey can answer that.
Now ya know.

Sadly Peter just turned 77 seven days ago. I wondered why he wasn't out on tour with Nez and Micky. Now we know he wasn't well enough.

I always liked this song, learned it in my teens and still do it today. It must have been an okay song because everyone still seems to like it.

I liked them as a kid (still do to some extent) but as I aged I began to realize that The Monkees were like the wizard of Oz -- the band's real power lie behind the curtain via gifted songwriters like Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, Neil Diamond, and others.

RIP Peter

RIP Peter Tork. Anyone's band in concert, that had Jimi Hendrix as a warm up for them, must have done something right.

The Monkees was one of my favorite shows as a kid. My mother told me they were not a "real" band, but I didn't care, they made me laugh. I remember looking for discarded returnable pop bottles and taking them to the store for the deposit and using the money to buy Monkees cards. When you had collected all the cards you could put them together to form a large picture of the group.

Rest in peace Peter.

I'm reading the CSN&Y book right now and Peter Tork was very influential in
those crazy days of The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and The Hollies. He was good
friends with (Mama) Cass Elliot and John Sebastian and introduced all to each other.

A great read :
