A true innovator. I can remember the first time I used a Dunlop pick. I never used another brand after that. He will be missed.

Indeed. I've even used his strings, and of course, MXR pedals. I had to call the company to even confirm this. I found this out on Facebook, with American Musical Supplies page, but it wasn't anywhere else online, so I thought it might have been a hoax, but sadly it wasn't. The company hadn't released any info about it yet. I think AMS got the info from Jim Dunlop's son's Twitter page.

I'd think it's safe to say there aren't too many guitarists who haven't used one of his picks or another. I'm looking at one right as I'm typing this, on my desk.

Thank you, for bringing this to our attention, Paul. Jim was a great example of the American Dream.

I have his picks all over the place, in my pocket, my wallet, my guitar bag and case, my fret board, on my computer desk by my interface; but, others too. I’ve found the Dunlops to be great, yet some don’t hold up like I’d prefer. I could go thicker or play with less action, but I already have those options. I just like the way they’re made for gripping and their playability.

I have the cleaner, and it works well. At first I was leary of using it, but I think moderation and rub off is the key. I don’t trust micro cloths as they are not equal, and sometimes do more harm than good. IMHO. But, since I haven’t used Dunlop’s I can’t say.

What I really get a lot of use from is the rubber pick holder on my mic stand. Great little invention, and I would miss it. Ya did good Mr. Dunlop.

RIP JD

RIP Mr. Dunlop, and my sincere condolences to the Dunlop family and their friends. I have a whole bunch of picks of various types littering my guitar case, but I always reach for the Dunlop nylons first. A Dunlop Crybaby Wah Wah was my first-ever guitar pedal and it brought me hours of joy over the years. Thank you very much for your contributions to our craft!

I'd say that's quite fitting.

Sad day.
Funny that the article mentions performers who use his picks.
I honestly think the list of people who do not use his picks would be shorter.
Seems to be pretty much two picks that dominate the market... the classic Fender tortoise, and the various Dunlop nylon and Tortex. My pick has always been the yellow Tortex.

But he did so much more than design a great pick.
