Ok, I totally piss off today  . A cleaner came to my house and I personally told her not to touch my Strat. So, I move my Strat to a sofa because I don't want her to move it for me. Went to my room, came back and saw she leaned it to the wall. I'm so angry and told her not to touch it again and she's totally confused...

Ok, am I really nuts by angry at her or there's others here who really don't like other people to touch their Strat without their concern..

It could be worse. Trust me, I have a two year old who loves the guitar, but isn't strong enough to pick it up. The only sure thing to do is keep it in the case when you're not playing.

My cleaner always touches my Strats - because my cleaner is usually me... :(

Yeah, luckily nothing happen... That's what I going to do the next time she come.. keep it in my hard case.

My 5 years old daughter really understand my rule...always reminded her not to touch it without my presence... I always told her, I keep this guitar nicely for me to past it to her when she really ready to play it... :D

lol i don't have to worry about anyone touching my strat...

1. it's cheap!
2. my parents are careful, and dad plays guitar
3. my cat always guards it
4. the twin girls that sometimes come over to my house get to touch my acoustic, or if im nice, i would let them have my electric ( careful with that though)

I usually don't let my friends or anything who have no knowledge of guitar touch mine. Ones that do, I have no problem with. I think with most guitarists, they don't seem to like people just flailing it around like it's some inexpensive toy.

I'd call the cleaning service to let them you directed her not to touch your guitar but she did within minutes. Ask them to send a different person next time. That seems reasonable.

Use the case. That's what it's for.

Does she speak a different language? Perhaps she just thought you meant not to clean it, rather than that she should keep a reverent distance from it's hallowed glory, so she simply moved it so that she could vacuum your sofa.

This really isn't such a big deal though, is it? I mean I'm sure she didn't kick it across the room when moving it to lean against the wall, and to have a go at her for moving it is pretty demeaning and very over the top. To imply you consider her incapable of recognising that it's an instrument that should be treated carefully seems disrespectful and rude.. she was probably confused as to what on earth your problem was, as I expect your reaction seemed quite ridiculous.

Does nobody else ever touch it? Do you react this way when others move it? How on earth will you cope when it gets it's first scratch?! If you can't bear the thought of anyone else's fingerprints on your Strat, or the angst of worrying about it, then just put it away. Put it into a case, a cupboard, or carry it upon you at all times and guard it with your life.

Honestly, you sound more highly strung than your Strat's high E.

I used to be the same way, until I watched the SRV Live at El Mocombo dvd
I figure if he could jump around and stand on the thing, it had to be pretty tough

Haha, no. But put she in their case. The cleaner can clean the case also.

I have no cleaner I do it by myself but I have no problem when some of my not git playing friends take my guitar in his hands.

Cheers :D
