Hi guys,
I need expert help dating and checking if this guitar is authentic. The seller agrees to let me check every part unmount the neck etc. He says its a American Deluxe Stratocaster 2005 that had a pickguard change and pickups swaped. Im adding all the photos he gave me so i really appreciate if you can help me with this. I dont have the money to miss this chance so i dont want to buy a fake.
Can you help me with your opinion?

Looks legit.

"This guitar is from the American Deluxe Series
made at the Corona Plant (Fender)
in 2005
Production Number: 83352"

Any advice on what to look for when dismembering the guitar like date on the neck heel etc?
Best!

I agree, the best if not the only way.

I can only read English...so I can't tell if that ad mentions whether the original pickgaurd and pickup's are part of the deal? I would want all the original parts.

Google translation my friend :)

in ( ) translation is from me

The previous owner modified the factory microphones for a game ( a set ? ) of Seymour Duncan Little 59'. With a very Road Worn look, polished arm make an extremely comfortable guitar with an unbeatable sound. Foolproof.

Hi Joaquin:

I agree it appears to check out. I’ve had two American Deluxes. One a 2011 used, and presently a 2012 new. Identical except for colour and fretboard. Different from the 2005 though.

I bought my first one (mint) having had only a year of prior use. Prices have changed since 2011 and I got it and the case at $1100 Canadian / $823.18 American. That said it was all original. Would I have paid the same for one that wasn’t? Well, if it was fourteen years old at today’s prices or had the right parts to suit my taste and requirements, maybe. If it was special or unique very possibly.

With the pricing today and your personal preference only you can decide. It doesn’t seem out of the market price being that there are, and always will be, axes that will bring in more or less depending on what the market will support.

I tend to agree with White Dog. I would prefer to have the original parts. It’s hard to tell if the S-1 switch is still attached and it definitely should have the 5 way switch. That will give you 10 switching possibilities. Are they all great? Not in my opinion. But, that’ll assure 5 good ones, and maybe more with options. The original pickups will be noiseless Samarium Cobalt. I’m sure the Seymour Duncans will be fine, and you may not want the originals, or the S-1, or the original wiring and pots. But, it’s a good investment to have all that. You could always sell those and maybe even purchase what you prefer.

Without the original parts you have to decide whether that guitar has an equal. lesser or better value than another. The bridge and locking tuners are available as a retro fit, so I wouldn’t use those as a sole decision maker.

Would I buy it? Hmm. That would depend. It won’t be an American Deluxe without the features it’s known for. That presents other considerations.

But, all said and done, if it’s a nice guitar and is what you desire it can be a good choice if the price is right for you.

It’s in the hand, the ears, and the soul.

Cheers!
FSB

I too want an original guitar, no mod.
I don't trust job done by somebody I don't know unless the price is very very low
