Re-Stringing the Bigsby Vibrato

Image

1. Crimp the string at a 45-degree angle next to the ball end (A).
2. Feed the string underneath, around and over the axle (B).
3. Place the ball end of the string onto the axle pin (C), keeping tension on the string to hold the ball in place.
4. Push a foam wedge (D) into the space under the axle to keep the string in place on the pin while winding.
5. Wind the string onto the tuning machine, tune to pitch and remove the foam wedge.
6. Repeat for each string.

Always found re-stringing the Matsumoku Granada 5202T to be very difficult. Hope this is helpful to others in reducing frustration. These instructions can be found on the Bigsby website. http://www.bigsby.com/vibe/resources/how-to-string/

Well, I succumbed and purchased the 2018 LIMITED EDITION '72 TELECASTER® CUSTOM W/BIGSBY® Model #: 0141212321. The guitar is beautiful and I have fallen in love. It comes with an impeccable owner's manual and some very nice pictures. But one thing bothers me.

For a custom Mexican Fender with a list price over $1,000 sold in the US, you would expect the owner's manual to be bilingual in Spanish and English. It is in Spanish only! The first two pages are in English, and have the obligatory "thank-you" for "purchasing a fine Fender instrument". You are then referred to the Fender website for the manual. However, the only manual remotely applicable on the website is the generic scan from the original 1973 Telecaster Deluxe. There is no English version of the 2018 manual. You might think that Fender would spend the small additional expense to have it translated.

Fender's superb customer service did promise to search their available resources and send me a copy if an English version was available, but that was weeks ago. So, with the vast Fender membership I'm sure there is someone who could make an English translation. Fender should be suitably embarrassed.

You know what you could probably do, if they have a copy of the manual online, is use something like Google Translate and it might work for you that way. Usually Spanish to English translations turn out pretty well with that.
