Just wondering, because I'm not sure, did Clapton play that opening riff, or did Duane Allman?

The outro riff to Muse's Knights f Cydonia. I want to jump around or charge something every time I hear the build up to it and then that riff.

You've got a point. If you listen, I think it's actually half and half. There's driving riff, that's EC, and then there's the soaring slide part, that's DA.

You can definitely tell the difference in personalities... at the Epiphone forum, when this same question is asked, half of the responses are "Day Tripper."

I am one of them.

You're right about the different personallities. Also, at the Epiphone forum, when they talk about the best guitar, the answer is probably "Epiphones"... :D
Actually, not necessarily. There are quite a few people on there that don't even own an Epiphone, but come to that forum because there's a large number of knowledgeable people, and 99% act like they're more than 14.

Clapton plays the intro and Allman plays sort of a counter intro rhythm. The interesting story to this intro is that it's Allmans riff. The Allman Bros. Band had the same producer, Tom Dowd, as Clapton. The guys in the Allman Bros were curious as to the sessions Duane was playing -naturally. Anyway, they heard the Layla track and loved it. Duane who was not coy about his prowess told them, " that's MY riff ".
