It's nice to see an eclectic set of tastes here. When I first saw this thread I expected a lot of EVH and Dimebag Darrel.

Frank Zappa: Zoot Allures

This album contains 2 of Frank's most famous solo's. The title track Zoot Allures and Black Napkins.

rat tomago (torture never stops solo) on sheik yerbouti kills me every time.
G3 (satriani, vai, johnson) do a very nice job with "my guitar wants to kill your mama".

Two more favorites are The Hellecasters "Escape From Hollywood" and Danny Gatton's "88 Elmira St."

To many to pick one. I have not seen anyone mention any thing by Guitar Shorty I no people on here who are electric blues fans no his work.

I like too many blues artists to just pick one out. I love them all.

Too, too many . . .

Still Got the Blues - Gary Moore (title track has my alltime favorite solo)

Beginnings - Allman Bros. (I cheated, it's two disks)

Disraeli Gears - Cream

. . . and I left out Zeppelin, SRV, solo Clapton, Jimi, Buddy, BB, Wes, Walter Trout, Joe Bonamassa, Jimmy Thackery, BB Chung King and the Buddaheads, and a hundred others. Questions like this one frustrate me.

Here is short list of albums most folks wouldn't pick:

Gregg Allman - Laid Back
Bob Dylan - Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid
David Grisman & Tony Rice - Tone Poems
David Grisman - Martin Taylor - Tone Poems 2
Adrian Legg - Guitars and Other Cathedrals

I stopped at 5 - there are way too many to choose from. :P

For its huge influence on exposing the beauty of vocal-less, instrumental electric-guitar-driven music, leading to deciding to become a melodic guitarist...

...The Ventures' original album, "Walk Don't Run."

Good thread subject.
