We are not selling or making any money from this material.
It's really no different than the thousands of tribute bands u find on myspace.

I see it just like youtube videos. Ultimate-Guitar has a whole forum for cover contests, and I've never seen anything bad happen there.

I understand. If that is the case then lets make it original material only.
I think that is cooler anyway...
But on the other hand when is the last time u heard of someone in
the industry sewing or punishing a tribute band?
Keep in mind there are groups out there touring & getting paid doing that.
(I'm not advocating it but u know what i mean.)

It could be fun, and also turn us on to some new stuff.

I think it would be easiest just to do one a month, guitar or bass. Feature one person, let them post pics, explain their rigs, etc. No competition, just showing members of the community.

What do u guys think about citizenerased's idea?
That is such a layed back approach. I kinda like that thought.

Are we talking just "a boy and his guitar"? A lot of us here have multitrack recording capabilities, synths, basses, drum machines and can create elaborate backing tracks to play with. Others just have a guitar and an amp. Seems that could be an unfair advantage. What do you guys think about that?

All I can say is...BRING IT ON!!! :D That idea would totally rock and make me get some of my newest stuff recorded (which isn't a big deal anyway). Would it be just one guitar track with no effects to actually show what the player can do, or would it be people hiding behind effects and such? I'm game either way, but there should be some ground rules to show the actual talent of the player rather than what effects (fakeness) can do for you... Oh yeah I agree with what cryingstrat said before me and that is the point that I'm trying to make as well. Anyone can "hide", but can you stand out in the open like ME? BRING IT ON BROS!!!

I agree that's why after some reflection on this...
Shreddin's post above helped me realize somthing.
It seems a competitive thing will attract to much negativity...
Likely, it will pit players against players... constituting negative posts & experiences.
In my opinion, this forum was meant to bring us together.
To help us get to know each other, share our music, info, & love for Fender.
Therefore, I say it is just a place where our members can be featured but not a competition.
It can be the player with nothing but a first guitar to one of us with killer equip & material.
This needs to be somthing that even the noob can be capable of being a part of.
So the question is, who gets featured? how? why? & for how long?

It took me a while to get it, but when I did, it sounded pretty sweet.

Maybe we should, I want to hear some skizzles.

That's why I think it should be on a sign up and volunteer basis. The person signs up for a month or two weeks (whatever the period is) and then prepares whatever they want to show. That way theres no advantage for a person using a multi-track recording over a person who's been playing for 6 months and just wants to show off what their ability is.

Bump. Do we want to do this or not? If so, I think we should give a bit of time, maybe start in a month or two or even the first of next year. My personal opinion is that we should sign up for a two-week slot where you do your thread and post all your info, gear, recordings, videos, etc. that you want, but that's just my idea. Anyone else think we should do this?

I have a really cool idea. Lets get the awsome admins here at
the Fender Forum to host the "Featured Fender Forum Player".
Maybe make it a sticky with a poll that we can vote on.
Where players here in the forum will post images & links to their song/music/playing or whatever.
Once a certain date passes... submissions close & then the admin turns on the poll with all submitted selections.
We all get a couple days to vote... then the winner & there link goes to the Featured Fender Forum Player Winners sticky.

I really think this will get more people to join the forum &
also enrich the environment here.
What do u think?

Sounds good to me.....wait........what's the prize?????????
