I just saw the band Spiritualized on Letterman...

I won't lie, they're possibly the worst band I've seen on national TV ever.

Including Black Kids, who were on the show last week.

The rhythm guitarist was doing punk eighth notes, alternating between two chords. The lead guitarist seemed to be making noise. The bass player was playing in every possible style there is. The keyboard player was literally pounding the keyboard at times. The drummer was keeping time, and doing snare drum fills between verses.

I have no idea what the lyrics were, because I couldn't understand any of them.

They were essentially a "controlled feedback" band.

But they had nice guitars... a red thinline Tele, a Jaguar, and a Precision Bass.

Unless there is a new band with the same name, I saw Spiritualized years ago on the Rollercoaster Tour with Curve and the Jesus & Mary Chain...they are just one of these weird, spacey, ambient bands, and not really a "radio friendly" band, so unfortunately, a show like Letterman's is not where a band like that will shine through well....

I'm beginning to think that you could insert 90% of modern acts into that situation and it would still be reasonable. Sure there's PLENTY of great stuff out there, but most acts I see playing live seem uninspired and the music is lacking.

I saw them on Letterman last night. They were OK, but it wasn't anything that makes me want to buy their album, and not necessarily something I'd remember if I heard it on the radio. The guitars were cool looking, though. I was much more impressed by James McMurtrey on Austin City Limits last weekend.

I went & saw TooL here in Florida back in May of 07.

They had a band that opened called Melt-Banana.

People kept telling me they are 'Noise Rock'...

I kinda like chaotic dissident music sounds, so I thought ok...

I don't know what they're recordings are like but...
 This was the worst noise I have ever heard...
They are an all asian band with a female singer.
Tries to speak english but couldn't.
But most of the time, singer just screamed or made annoying noises.
Maybe it was reminding me of Yoko Ono or somthing idk.
The midrange was assaulting, I mean like the stuff that makes u cringe.
What is that like 2k - 4k in your ear drum?
Whatever it was, the room emptied. It seemed like it went on forever.
Then finally TooL played & it was a great show!
